Chakka Kuru Thoran | Chakka Kottai Thoran Recipes | Palakottai Poriyal | Jackfruit Seed Recipe

Tasty, healthy and easy to make side dish using jackfruit seeds.
INGREDIENTS:
Jackfruit seeds - 500grams
Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
Salt - as needed
Coconut - ¾ cup
Green chilli - 4
Coconut oil - 4 tablespoons
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Urad dal - 1.5 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 1-2 strings
Red chilli - 2
RECIPE:
1. Cut the seeds into 2 or 4. Add salt, turmeric powder and water. Boil or pressure cook for 20 minutes. The seeds must me soft and should be mashable with little pressure.
2. In a mixer jar, take coconut and green chilly. Add water if needed. Grind a coarse paste.
3. Heat coconut oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal, curry leaves and red chilly.
4. Saute’ for a minute and add the cooked seeds. Cook for 2 minutes.
5. Add salt if needed. Add the fresh masala and mix evenly.
6. Cook for 2 minutes till the raw smell goes away.
7. Drizzle coconut oil for flavour.
8. Serve hot with sambar / rasam / morkutaan and rice.
