Chain Pull Technique

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I used a 12 x 12 canvas and covered it with a coat of white paint. I took a piece of ball chain and coated it in the purple (amethyst) paint. While this is very similar to using the string - it does provide a bit of a different look.

    I did these and I also made the flowers with and the background the color of the flowers...opposites. all turned out beautiful. I also will add more to the taller ones by doing it again on the lower half, making it fuller.

    Great job Kathy. I have gone out and bought all the supplies for a dirty pour but haven't decided the colors I want for my first try. haha I will keep this in mind when I decide to do my tutorial. If I do the ball chain technique I will be sure to credit your tutorial here. smile Have a wonderfully creative month. TFS P.S. I think the mess of it is subconsciously holding me back. hahahahahaha

    One more question. What are u using for coating before painting?

  • @DesignedByKathy

    @DesignedByKathy

    On this one, I did the background in white -- with the additive included in the paint. I did not use guesso or a primer.

    So you don’t have to put a medium in the base paint?

  • @DesignedByKathy

    @DesignedByKathy

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes - I always use a medium - Floetrol is what I use most all the time. Unless -- you have purchased pouring paints that already have the medium mixed in. Happy Pouring!

    If you loop the chain while you put it down it will give you a fuller flowe.

    Certainly worth a try Ginny! Also -- by using more than one chain creates another effect. (see Simple Christmas Tree video)

    Do you put the white down on raw canvas, or is there gesso or something?

  • @DesignedByKathy

    @DesignedByKathy

    5 жыл бұрын

    I did not put gesso on this particular one. It is not a bad idea to use if you are going to be adding treadmill belt oil to your paints - but this project I just put the white directly onto the canvas. Thanks for watching!
