Cha Cha Dance Lesson for Beginners

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This Latin Cha Cha dance lesson will teach you the basics of Latin style cha cha dancing. We will go over the basic cha cha dance step of the cha cha dance for beginners and instruct you with basic cha cha dance partnerwork.
If you are coming from salsa dancing, we will show you how you can transfer your salsa dance steps and to Latin cha cha dancing by exchanging the pauses in the salsa dance steps with the (triple) cha cha dance steps. At the end, we provide you with a set of advanced cha cha dance moves for the Latin dance club.
Please note that the cha cha dancing you see on 'Dancing With the Stars' is American Ballroom Cha-Cha and not the type you see casually danced at the night club.

Seriously? There is no better salsa(now also cha cha cha) videos on web than Anthony's project. Forget Magna Gopal and all the "stars" he is the guy that brings salsa to you, not only "look at me showing off". Anthony - you're simply the best!

To all those who complaint about "not straightened legs" and "worst Chacha ever": This is NOT Ballroom Chachacha, but Social or Line Chacha. It is danced with Salsa figures and Salsa legs (not straightened). Like for Salsa you can dance "On 1" or "On 2": "On 1" the lady starts with left foot in place on 1 and right foot back on 2, or with right foot in place on 1 and left foot forward on 2. THANKS DUDE - I love your explanation!

Very good video. Until now, I didn't understand why Latin dancers dance cha cha on 2. I learned in a ballroom cha cha class where it is danced on 1. Anyway, this is a good foundation to build on, and since I already dance a good bit of salsa, I should be able to "re-learn" cha cha the way it is danced by Latin dancers. Thanks so much.

Thank you both for your continued efforts to the dancing community. Even if the steps aren't official Ballroom Cha-cha, and it is clearly stated as "Latin Cha-Cha," there is nothing "not nice" about the lovely and talented Julie.

This video is for people who want to learn to dance cha-cha casually and socially. These two wouldn't win any international competitions, but they aren't trying to. They are just dancing for fun, and in my opinion they look more stylish than stiffer ballroom dancers who anguish over every tiny mistake and suck the fun right out of dancing.

As a relative newcomer to social dancing, I was impressed by the variety of steps in the demo video from 7:15 to the end. I would like to practice some of those patterns. Also the song (without words) has fascinating melodies, harmonies and rhythm. I too would like to know the name of the song.

Anthony is right. Dancing on straight legs is particular to latin ballroom dancing (American and/or International), which exaggerates the hip movement. Cha-Cha dancing was invented in Cuba, and if you search for videos of Cuban Chachacha, you'll see that the Cubans dance it with soft knees- which lends itself to a subtler hip movement (aka "Cuban motion"!) The shape of the Cuban dance is different to linear salsa, but dancing it with soft knees is totally fine. (Less camp for the men too!)

@dyl3ndj This is not "Latin cha cha" in the sense of "the cha cha as it is danced in the International Latin division of competitive ballroom dance", but rather it is "Latin" in the sense that at most Latin/Salsa events, this is the way the cha cha is danced.
