This song is so much better when I'm not playing it in a rhythm game

What is everyone's interpretations of the song? I believe someone very close to Miku(not necessarily romantically) has died, and she blames herself for their death ("The red drops dying my fingers"). This person talked her out of killing herself, or maybe stopped her some other way ("I prayed to disappear, so why are you hugging me so tight?") and Miku loved them very much for that. But one day, the person she loved killed themselves, and Miku blames herself for not seeing it and saving them like they saved her. thats just what i think tho

+sad green alien That's an interesting take on it! My interpretation was a bit similar. Miku was depressed, and she wanted to disappear. As she mentioned at the beginning she was becoming an adult, and perhaps growing up was too much for her. The only problem was the the person she was talking about still cared about her, and because of this she didn't want to disappear. ("Why are you holding me so tight?") He/she still loved her, and she partly wished they didn't because she wanted to die. At they end, they "faded away"- perhaps they either passed away or she just became less significant to them as time passed, and eventually Miku had no one else to live for. Sad, but that's what I got out of it. :(

+sad green alien The description of the song in Project Mirai says it's about losing someone important and how memories fade. The video follows a girl as she wanders through a city, finding herself in darkness only to be guided to the light by fireflies, and at the end of the song, it pans away from the girl to show she's a sketch on a piece of paper. Depresses the hell out of me.

+sad green alien Drop the "I beleive" part. You've conceived the story(interpretation), for you at least it is real. Everyone has the capability to create their own story(interpretation) of everything. If they see it, it's not something to be doubted, questioned or beleived in, it simply is. Only after it comes the part in which interpretations clash and then you possibly come out with one you like more..

I've only ever listened to the Nano version, but it feels like a whole different song listening to Miku sing it.

My theory is that we have two close friends (or it could be a couple, whatever works) have just graduated from high-school, or one of them graduated, and they have been separated (either by moving to completely different areas or the one going to college has little time to hang out with the other), and so they "drift" from each other. This song is like them saying their goodbyes to each other and missing each other very badly.

just imagine it Two people like each other a boy and a girl. Everyday they see each other but what the boy doesn't know is that the girl is depressed. The girl lost her family at a young age and is made fun of at school and one day she just couldn't take it anymore. She grabbed her sharpest knife and started to cut her wrist. The boy came over and saw her laying bloody on the bathroom floor. He picked her up and hugged her tightly crying into her. she asks "Why are you hugging me tightly not wanting to let go.... when I want to dissappear?...." He croaks out "Because I love you with every bit of my body and I don't want you to go.." she starts to fade away as the blood runs down her arm but she hugs him back as tight as she can she begs "please smile for me it's what I want to see before I go.... you're beautiful smile" he smiles for her and she smiles back letting go of his body before completing fading away leaving him crying because the last thing she said was "I'm sorry.... forever know.... I love you....."

Haha, the song doesn't belong to them, but it's a song that they both like or can relate to that the song. And btw, Miku doesn't own the song; she's just the voice. The song belongs to the person who wrote it and used Miku to sing it so that would be Keeno. Hope that clears some things up~
