    If I can't become a 153A, I'll go for a 15U. Amazing footage!

    You can definitely do it. Lots of my buddies have transitioned to 153A and I am flying with them now. I got out during the whole rona deal, but still do this as my day job as a civilian.

    @@cnknguyen Sounds awesome man. I know how to become a 153A with the S2S program, but what about a 15 series? Is there some "easy" to get into program like S2S but for 15 MOS?

    @clutchtucker it's a little easier to get letters of rec and if you are a 15u before you take the flight controls, it gives you a better understanding of how the whole system comes together. But if you are able to do the dance from street to seat, get after it. I might see you at the school house in a few years.

    How difficult is the training for this mos?

    Its a bit of a process. You would need to be a 15U, which is a CH-47F repairer, then not suck at that job and show some motivation. After that you'd be selected by the flight company (usually going from a delta company to a bravo company in a GSAB) to begin progression through 3 readiness levels, once you reach RL1 you're FMQ and get assigned an aircraft once you make FE (you need to go from RL1 CE to RL1 FE..from there you can progress to FI, then SI with advanced schools). Each level has a series of tasks associated with whats called a CTL (commanders task list) that you will be evaluated on through a checkride with an FI or SI. One great benefit, other than being the best job in the Army, is that if you decide you wanted to be a pilot, its easy to get letters of recommendation from your peers, as long as you're not a lazy shitbag. Good luck to you brother.

    Yea was training a new guy on the back 40 at Hood, also dropping the cabin door is fun, unnecessary but fun. Whats wild is the Dutch and English Airforce use it as a standard for slingloads with ground crews.

    Are you tethered when you’re doing this?

  • @cnknguyen

    @cnknguyen

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes sir, but we have to be careful as the tether is still long enough to let us get almost all the way out of the helicopter. Some times an FE won't set up their tail properly and then they become the slingload lol

    @@cnknguyen ah okay lol….. I was just wondering. I didn’t see a tether and I thought that would be pretty sketchy to be hanging half way out of the bird without one, make the ride more exciting that’s for sure haha

    It's a 15U MOS, but you need to be selected for flight. It's generally the best maintainers with the right mindset that are selected. Good luck brother.
