From my understanding on arena when you slip out the back vorinclex it actually adds 2 counters as you are putting a permanent on something she controls

Arena actually gets things wrong, vorinclex says “if YOU would put counters on a permanent you control, double them” so if you targeted it with slip out the back you would get 2, but since CGB is putting the counter on it, it only gets half of 1 which is 0

Based Blake for knowing Baldur's Gate and having played it.

I always have mixed feelings with this sort of Commander games - with hardly any removal. On the one hand, it serves to let everyone develop neatly, but, on the other hand, there are too few surprises and all just hinges on who is going out of hand first.

While that's not what I'd have done with Golos, activating Maze's End, the coolest Thawing Glaciers besides Thawing Glaciers, for the win was awesome. Well played! Dealing damage through combat is for the plebs. Also, shout out to Skittles, the Blight Dragon.

I used to run golos mazes end and never used the activated ability namely because hitting 2 gates back then basically killed the wanted win con. Then golos got banned , was big sad with my shiny pilgrim. I'm using garth one eye now as a legal replacement , it's alright but not tutoring lands on etb alright.

It is my understanding that Vorinclex wont double the loyalty counters that are added due to paying for an ability, only when the PW enters the battlefield since it is worded that the loyalty counters are put on the PW. Am I wrong on that?

You are wrong. Vorinclex's text reads as following: "If you would put one or more counters on a permanent or player, put twice that many of each of those kinds of counters on that permanent or player instead." When you use a loyalty ability, you are either putting loyalty counters on a planeswalker or removing them. If you are using a planeswalker's plus ability, you are putting counters on the planeswalker, and therefore Vorinclex doubles the number being put on.

That's the case with doubling season, because its worded when an effect put the counters on something, loyal abilities are a cost. Vorinclex doesn't care if it is an effect or a cost.

Interestingly if you have both Vorinclex and Doubling Season out, the latter does trigger as well because now there is an effect putting counters on something (the replacement effect of Vorinclex)

Never seen Amulet of Vigor play better 👍

So, I have a question - Shae had Vorinclex out and four (4) poison counters. If Ben had swung with Skittles, would she have received eight (8) more poison counters due to Vorinclex? OR Would she receive two (2) poison counters? In other words, is Ben placing the poison counters on Shae?

Late, but, the source of the damage is Skithiryx, so the counters get halved.

Golos was not banned for a good reason...

#freegolos Golos never should have been banned. My playgroup ALSO allows me to play my Golos deck post ban because it is a maze's end deck XD

love the discussion - but 8.5 minutes before gameplay without a timestamp is super lame and if that continues i'll go back to channels that make gameplay the focus. All for the interaction in game - but the pregame is just, well, i'm glad y'all are having fun and getting paid for it. pretty sure 90+% of your viewers agree

That was a pretty fun, swingy game. I was glad Golos won, because I thought Shae had it all the way
