It was the first regular season game that I watched live. It was an interesting matchup. For the first time Bo Levi Mitchell played against the team in which he won 2 Grey Cups in 2014 and 2018. And it was at the stadium that Bo was calling home for a long time. Fans welcomed him with respect that he deserved. And he wasn't bad, some of his passes were dropped by receivers and some touchdowns were taken off the board because of that... Hamilton defense wasn't good. Calgary had quite a lot of scoring opportunities. Rene Paredes had an awesome game. 6 out of 6 on field goals and he had a long one scored in the 1st quarter (52 yarder), both extra points were good as well. He scored more than offense, they only scored 12 points, Paredes scored 20 points.

To be honest, Calgary won against Hamilton that wasn't doing good last season as well. It will be interesting to see Calgary playing against BC, Winnipeg and Montreal. I watched arch-veteran Trevor Harris play last night. Very impressed! And I watched old-timer BLM open his season in CowTown. He also impressed, despite looking pretty thread-bare last season. Something that jumped out at me was when BLM took off for a run, and after being tackled called the officials over to himself, staggering and pretending he took an illegal hit to the helmet (which he clearly didn't). It reminded me of a playoff game 3 or 4 yrs ago when Trevor Harris marched his Alouettes up the field and into the Red Zone with only seconds left to play. Apropos of nothing, the officials stopped play and yanked Harris out for 'concussion protocols'. Als lost the game. Fast-forward to BLM taking a faux-flop y'day, holding his wobbly head. Why wasn't he instantly placed on protocol?? It wasn't even ruled that he had to sit out a single play, let alone the game. And on that subject, will there be a suspension for the Wpg defensive player who on Thursday's game went after Mtl's QB when the outcome was already on the books. Not only did he hit him well after the pass was thrown, but he followed up with 2 successive forceful strikes to the head (15yd penalty called; no ejection). Again, what's the rule? In the afore-mentioned instance, Harris was sidelined by officials for "protocol" for similar helmet contact. Glad that we're no longer punishing the victim, but...?
