You really need to resolve the empty country/state thing. Here's an idea: Take the teams that border an empty area, put them in a wheel, spin. Whoever it lands on gets the territory. Once there are no more empty areas you can start. You don't have to show it more than once to explain it and there'll no more teams "dodging bullets".

Several countries not used (which makes sense given there are more countries than teams) but then there are teams in non-countries? Falkland Islands aren't a country, Greenland isn't a country, Western Sahara isn't a country, etc. Didn't need to use non-countries when there were so many spare countries. (To be fair, I definitely get it with Greenland, given the size and location). Don't take it the wrong way, I'm just a geography nerd, this sort of thing gets me more than most. Fantastic video concept, and go Pittsweden.

Fellow geography nerd, western Sahara is much more a country than Greenland or Falkland. Claims independence and recognized by 46 nation and a full member of the African Union. One could say that Western Sahara is independent but partially occupied by Morocco. And like you said Greenland also makes sense cuz size. But Falkland islands?? 😅

Few more odd ones in there like Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands that didn't make a ton of sense to include either when there were available countries, but I didn't want to harp too much on it because I'd rather not sound too negative over what was otherwise a solid concept

To answer why there's so many small countries in Europe, the only two words that can be used are "Vikings" and "Rome". Rome was a massive empire that ruled pretty much all of Europe, but when they collapsed, a lot of the local populations, especially the ones that had been under Rome's heel for a good thousand years or so decided to form up their own borders, and when Vikings came a calling, they added onto that, invading into countries outside of the ones you usually consider Vikings to be in. As a result, the map of Europe got changed A LOT throughout history. Compare that to the United States, who - after we became independent - bought our way to owning most of the land we have (or invading into parts of Mexico) in order to make us as big of a country as we are

Also has to do with the fall of the Soviet Union. A lot of the Eastern European countries came out of the Soviet Union's fall, such as Ukraine and all those countries in the Balkans that used to be Yugoslavia.
