The Department of National Defence (DND) is continuing with its efforts to transform the Dockyard waterfront at CFB Esquimalt into a modern site for the 21st century. The existing “A” and “B” Jetties are over 70 years old, originally built in the World War II era, and are well beyond their service life. The condition of these jetties is such that they need to be replaced to provide structurally sound berthing facilities for Canada’s current and future Pacific Naval Fleet.
