Thank you, I have seen most of these ancient scenes before they started disappearing in the early 70s , by 80s the rickshaws, bollock carts, open buses, telephone posts, lamp posts, coal engine trains, old diesel engines(small gauge tracks, K.O line) & cadjhan thatched huts, constables in karckie shorts, crank start vehicle engines were mostly gone...the dramatic change took place after 1977 with open economy, policy..
There is a photo with the erroneous caption "Slaves harvesting ..... (3:58 - 04:02). There was no slavery in Sri Lanka even under western colonialism. There were only servants and coolies who worked for a payment. Even if colonists brought down slaves in to Sri Lanka (Ceylon) from other countries, gradually those slaves became free individuals like natives in Ceylon.

Thank you for pointing that out. Yes, slavery was never practiced in Sri Lanka.
