Gents, One of the better videos of inside a skycatcher. Nice job. After 8 years off of VFR flying, thanks to the submarine Navy for sucking up all of my time, I'm getting back into flying. I'm thinking about picking up a used skycatcher and flying the crap out of it for three years then selling it...I just wish the damn thing could get IFR certified.

It's my understanding that an LSA can be an IFR platform. That has more to do with the planes equipment and the pilots rating.

Thank you much Mark Morgan. I had a blast in the Skycatcher and would definitely recommend it to any pilot or student pilot. It really is a shame that the C162 isn't certified for IFR but If you're looking for a cheep plane that's IFR certified I've noticed to my surprise that there are a few C150/152s out there that are IFR certified. Either way, I wish you luck and hope you're able to start flying soon.

caleb krueger Flying in IMC in the 162 would be terrifying. I like the Skycatcher but it's not exactly the aircraft I would choose to be in on a turbulent day...

Weird control stick. Not sure I've ever seen another plane before with tiller style for roll/aileron control. I expected it to be more like the Sky Arrow controls when I saw a picture online of it.

This looks like a really neat little plane to build hours in. Attractive used prices. They have a pretty bad safety record, right? And parts availability considering out of prod? I really don't want to buy an ancient 152.

He wasn't. There are displaced thresholds on both ends due to trees.

Never flown a Skycatcher before. Is it safe to pull flap in the middle of a turn on final? I've always been taught to dump flaps in level flight.

Frank Lister It’s a neat little plane. I’d say if you can handle the pitch, airspeed and possible roll rate change that comes with adding flaps in a turn then you should be A-OK. I know a lot of people don’t like the idea of flaps in a turn because in the event of a slit flap situation during the turn, there could be a possible violent roll or even spin situation in your future. If you’re comfortable with your airplane I’d say you’ll be ok. You might even become more comfortable with the wing you’re flying. That’s just one guys opinion. Thanks!

@@dkroen17 You'd be good unless you weigh quite a bit and want to bring a friend. I'm 5'10" but my legs are short and my upper part is taller and have plenty of headroom.

How did you get your audio to go with the GoPro?

It works pretty darn good too. Hopefully this helps.

How do you mount the camera, I mounted mine with a suction mount on the rear window but it shakes like crazy.

I mounted a GoPro on the ceiling of the aircraft with a sticky mount. The adhesive came off pretty well without leaving residue on the inside of the aircraft.
