Good day. I do not want to do this, but I have no choice. I am a blind Theological student in South-Africa in a wonderful reformed Theological seminary. I taught myself Greek and Hebrew Braille and am currently in my second year. How ever, I can't find a braille copy of the hebrew Bible or the Greek UBS 3 revised version of the New Testament. I do have access to electronic versions of the Hebrew and Greek Bibles, like the Textus Receptus, but I need the text critical notes that texts like the UBS 3 revised text supplies for my studies. All of my professors are very helpful, but as I've said, we couldn't find any braille copy of the above mentioned bibles. Can anyone help me please?

I just dont understand how you can say that cessationists have a higher view of scripture, yet you eisegete your way outnof the scriptures that teach gifts until christ return? 1 Corinthians 1:7 so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Corinthians 13:10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. 1 Corinthians 14:1 ​ Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. Acts 2:17-18 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. ESPECIALLY THIS ONE! Ephesians 4:11-13 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, UNTIL we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Alternatively, if someone can point me to verses that explicitly teach the end of gifts has occurred, in the same way that these teach they continue, then I'm all ears!

I have not seen the movie yet. I heard from someone who did see the movie that there was no mention of 1COR 13:8 - 12 (the part of the Bible that addresses when the gifts cease). Is that true? Please let me know. If they did not even mention the part of the Word that directly addresses the cessation of the gifts in a movie about the cessation of the gifts - I am not going to bother.

There is a line of Scripture that prompts us not to quench the Holy Spirit. Seems to be good advice. MikeInMinnesota

So sad. Why would you not want to utilize the gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus Himself left for us?

Do y’all deny that the Holy Spirit absolutely cannot make someone speak in tongues or perform miracles today? Or do you believe it is not to be expected and normative but if God does so, hallelujah?

Correct. It doesn't happen and it won't happen, but God is sovereign and if He has chosen a time for them to come back they will (but He has said in Scripture that they were just around for a time period).

@@definitelynotatroll Acts 2, 1 cor 1:7, 1 cor 13, and Ephesians 4 all say the gifts will be around until Christ returns....where does the Bible say differently? I have not found that verse?

@@kevinevans8892Gifts continue until: acts 2 says in the last days. 1 cor 1:1 says continue until the return of christ. 1 cor 1:13 says when that which is perfect is come (Jesus, not the canon). Eph 4 says when we all come to unity in the faith, knowledge of the son of God, and the measure and standard of Christ.

Irenaeus, Against Heresies, Ch XI, 160AD, “Others, again, try to set at nought the gift of the Spirit, which in the latter times has been poured out upon the human race, by the good pleasure of the Father. For they do not admit that aspect presented by John’s Gospel, in which the Lord promised that He would send the Paraclete. Rather, they set aside at once both the Gospel and the prophetic Spirit. Wretched men indeed! They wish to be pseudo-prophets, but they set aside the gift of prophecy from the church. . . . We must conclude, moreover, that these men cannot admit the apostle Paul either. For, in his Epistle to the Corinthians, he speaks expressly of prophetic gifts, and recognizes men and women prophesying in the church.” (7) Irenaeus was the 3rd generation after the apostles.
