Mark Ryder was born to play Cesare Borgia. With long hair and beard he looks straight from the Renaissance era.

This is by far the best version, Mark Ryder was amazing shame this version didn't get as much attention I think more people would agree

Disagree. I thought this one was alright but I much prefer the showtime version. Just me though.

Before watching this version of borgia i had watched The Borgias and absolutely loved it. I loved Cesare (Francois Arnaud) in the borgias. Mature and dark ,responsible, and his relating with Lucrazia ( holly grainger) true love, complexly shown. But let me tell you, this version is so much more beautiful. Mark ryder reveals complex humanity of Cesare. Reveals his vulnerability, self doubt, grandeur, beauty, God like self image and yet a fallible character with realness. This show makes audience care for the characters. You want them to be ok. You want them to thrive. This show adds SOUL to the whole story. Lucrazia (isolda) grows on you. From a child to an adult and mature character. Their bond is so beautiful. Complex like the other borgias but much more soul full love. Both shows are feast to watch. This show has much more depth and beauty. Absolutely enjoyed this creation. This show has quotes from Marcus aurelius meditaitions And in the end Cesare has a moment of deep insight into BEING nothing. Being no one. A glimpse of freedom. There is maturity, spirituality some moments of this show. A lot better than crude cringes they make nowadays.

"I want it all, or not at all" sounds exactly like Cesare..

This version didn't get the attention it deserved in North America, but it was highly praised western European countries such as France, Germany, and Spain.

I have watched "The Borgias" and now only discovered this series. It is good on many levels such as casting(looks and age vice), costumes, etc, but I'm not sure about the acting of some of them.

Чезаре Марка Райдера просто прекрасен. Тот государь, про которого говорил Макиавелли( кто читал, то понимает о чем я говорю). Внешнее сходство+ разные характеры членов клана Борджиа. Это не дорогущая мыльная булька, которая крутится вокруг и ради инцеста, восхваляет полководца и не показывает причины его становления и уважения к нему других людей. Имея маленький бюджет, но продуманный и хроший сценарий - фильм Тома Фонтаны беспорно лучше. Те, кто не хотят думать, а просто провести время- будут смотреть "припудреную" версию с красивыми актёрамы, костюмами, но слабеньким сценарием.

I love Cesare Borgia as a character but not this one, but Francoise Arnaud one. I remember that this was one of my first history show I watched and The first one I didn't finish. It was like 5 years ago but this show looked bad and he as total psycho. I don't know I love The Borgias and actors who played the whole family and especially Francoise performace. Do you think that these version worth it comparing to The other one? And it is historically correct? At least as I can see none of these two Cesares wear mask to cover syfilis.

Well, I watched The Borgias first and I loved that show but it got cancelled and I was curious about how the story continued after. Thats why I watched this version. At first I didn't like it, also it seemed a little hard to watch (some scenes are just really disgusting) compared to The Borgias but I fell in love with this version too. Personally I prefer this Cesare because the actors performance is amazing and his storylines are interesting. As for the historical accuracy, none of these shows are historically accurate. But this version is definately worth watching. Also, if you're wondering about which version is better you can watch video on KZread, I think it's called 'who did it best'. The guy who is comparing these shows sums up everything. But for me both versions are good and worth watching.

Anna Thank I know I was so sad that The Borgias didnt get season 4, it was because of money :/ yeah I saw that video too in past, it was very interesting but maybe because Cesare was actually first character I loved so much to do more researching and of course reading Prince. Francoise stole my heart The same way as Daniel aka Lorenzo de Medici. I remember that It was hard to watch and especially I had a problem with actors because most of them I didnt like. Maybe The Borgias seems to be more elegant, and more reneisance and Borgia more naturalistic. Thank for you opinion :)

Yes, Francois was the best in my opinion.

Не люблю этого актёра, хорошо хоть нос переделал, вот нету мужества, как у Арно и глаза близко расположены, и Лукреция тоже простовата , фильм уступает намного , Айронс гениальный актер !
