How much coating solution would Bonanza require? 100ml or more?

Has anyone ever noticed that the paint scheme looks so much like the classic Midwest Express livery?

This may sound silly, but I wonder if there is a notable weight difference on a Bonanza or Saratoga sized airplane after the coating is applied.

Aero Swen so we ran the numbers actually for a glider pilot that had the same question. I’ll direct copy and paste that here: In terms of weight added, It is difficult to estimate the exact amount as the liquid is wiped on, and soon after the excess is wiped off again. But, lets assume the following to come up with a worst case scenario: I have no clue on your dimensions, but a Piper Meridian takes about 100ml of coating to do the whole thing. The coating weighs 2.5 grams per milliliter, we would be applying 250 grams of liquid, though wiping off over 70 percent of the liquid again, so roughly 175grams of weight is added to the aircraft.

So are these guys FAA certified A&P or can any guy with a bucket and buffer polish aircraft?

Steve McCready pretty sure this counts as preventative maintenance, they’re not altering the airframe or engine. The original type-certificated aircraft remains as is only with a prettier appearance. Because of this it’s imperative to do your homework and only let well-known and competent people do the work.

Wait.... isn't ceramic coating something that originated with airplanes?

Is it me or does $3000.00 sound like a lot to buff and polish an airplane ?? I think I'll buy a buffer and tackle this job myself.

Not really a revolutionary idea... it’s been used in automotive care for years. Ceramic coatings are not only sold to professionals. You can do an amazon search pretty easily for this stuff

There are soo many different coatings on the market, we have invested a lot of time testing various coatings. We want to make sure our specific coating (crystal Serum Ultra) holds up well against turbo prop exhaust and other aircraft specific exposures. Not to say other coatings won’t work, but I’m not going to stick my name behind another one until I know for sure it works.

TomCook1993 you’re right, he talks like this is only for experts when you can buy one of the top in the market ceramic from amazon, is not a science or from another world, gtechniq sells it on amazon and it’s second to the best in my opinion, super easy to apply and anybody can dio it, it comes down to how many years of polishing experience in single stage paint job but for ceramic coating they are making them easy to apply even for new people. Ceramic pro does marine and aviary, the stuff he’s talking about it’s not solely to his job. Most ceramic coatings are versatile nowadays.
