Handy little tool, and the procedures to make it are relevant to other projects too. Good job, John.

Hi John. Very useful tool indeed. Everybody is likely to make one now! You're right about a heavier machine making climb milling possible. I actually rely on the weight of the bridgeport table to allow me to get a better final finish by climb milling.

I've seen those with the middle hole sized for a pencil or marker...lets you draw a centerline down the length of the workpiece. I'm also thinking a v-groove along the top would be useful for finding the center on round bars...just use it upside down. Hmmmm...magnetic dowel pins so it hangs on by itself? Ok, I'll stop! LOL! -- Mike

Climb milling offers longer cutter life and better finish - but the machine needs to be more rigid and there must be no backlash in the feedscrew - so better with CNC which will have ball feedscrews.

Handy tool, you could also make it longer with slip fit outer shouldered dowels and multiple holes... Just a thought, nice video as always! Like the bloopers. Thanks for sharing! :o] O,

Hi John, What kind of brush is that in your oil cup? It looks like a custom job. Love the shirt. Good color for the shop. Another mod to the center finder is a round boss at the center of known diameter, say two inches. You can now position your center hole in relation to the end of the tube accurately using a combination square. Happy new year! You are way ahead of us on this. Tom

8:30 what do you call the grind on that endmill? I've never seen the flutes that fat out near the cutting area. or that flat profiled shape of the flutes. Pretty cool tool
