    Fantastic video. I have watched this twice and still am amazed at the amount of work you guys have done since relocation from Hanna Ave. My days as a club member while living in Toronto date back to the 1984-1989 time in my life and it was always a highlight of the week to be at the club. I wish I lived nearby today. Truly remarkable layout and thanks for sharing.

    So difficult to stop any car from wobbling, especially the immediate tanker and box car, exaggerated by the closeness of the camera.

    As I mentioned in one of your other videos I love the trackwork. Is it my imagination or is all the elevation done with linear running and no helixes?

  • @modelrailroadcluboftoronto1643

    @modelrailroadcluboftoronto1643

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes we do achieve our 52" height gain (min 24" in staging to max 76" ) through many scale miles of linear running. Grades are held to a max of 2.0% however there is one section of 2.5% that sometimes requires a helper. Such is the advantage of O scale where our large differences in elevation would not work in smaller scales. Plus having a 3500SF layout room sure helps. The goal of this plan was "no duckunders". Full disclosure though is the use of an obesely herniated "helix" where the dbl track main coils around the mountain. Cheers

    This track is the start of the Algonquin sub which leads to the now under development Port Coleman scene, which will be located in the unfinished area under the suspension bridge. Will indeed make a new video when this is finished!

    That was awesome! Amazing progress considering the layout had to be relocated only a few years ago. I wouldn't like to have to rescue a derailed train at the mid-point of the run (almost a minute between the backdrops with no obvious access points). What's the doorbell for at 27:55?

    Hi, thanks for the comments! I am a fan of your channel watching both the K&SV progress and your track planning vids. This layout was also designed with 3rdPlanit. Powerful software and I've used it for many designs. The access to the high level track between the backdrops is via a hinged access panels. The doorbell button is to get our vertical access section to raise up... allow for duckunder free access to inner operator aisles (we call it Otis). There are a number of pics of Otis on Pilentum's recent vid: www.pilentum.org/model-railroad-club-of-toronto-canada Regards, Dave M

    @@modelrailroadcluboftoronto1643 Thanks. I did notice the raised area in one of the videos, but didn't connect it with the doorbell. I also figured out the hinged panels on the backdrop after watching another of your videos when I knew what to look for (binge-watched everything last night). I studied the 3rd-plan-it images too. It looks like you deviated quite significantly from that version of the plan. I definitely need to arrange a visit if I'm ever near there. Thanks again.

    This gives me some ideas for my own 2 rail o scale layout. Not sure if I wanna do proto 48 as that's seems like a real bear to deal with and is way too time consuming even for a young man like myself. I have a plan for a basic layout which I can and will run when I'm on my own though the singular centralized layout will have spur lines for future expansion. I plan upon having the biggest layout that I possibly can, I'm thinking a 3 or 400 feet long and about 100 feet wide possibly bigger. Outrageous? Nah not really. I have an entire club of helpers.

    Hi Mark, parts of the layout date back to the 1940s, and with Club's move in 2013 to this location, although the large terminals came from our previous location much of the trackwork seen is now new. Great care is taken to keep track and rolling stock in top condition. Here is a link to a cab ride on the old layout, which was in existence from 1946 to 2013: kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqiDr8egY5e4c8o.html

    The old layout's 7000' of track was 100% handlaid, initially as this was the only way to make track in the 1940s. With the new layout its a mix, with the salvaged terminals remaining handlaid, with new track being MicroEngineering flex track with steel rail, but all new switches are handlaid
