Center Console + Electric Shifter (Chevy Silverado LT Trail Boss)

Ойын-сауық

In this video, I'll show you the center console and electric shifter you can get with the 2022 Refreshed Chevy Silverado. I really like all of the storage it provides and the large cup holders. The bucket seats replace the bench seat and the electric shifter replaces the column shifter.

What I really like about this electronic shifter is when you get to where you’re going just hit the start/stop ignition and it goes into park instantly and stops the engine in one motion instead of two.

I love it. Silverado should have been had a console sport shifter. My next truck, that's what I want. I'm tired of Chevy column shifters. Ford & others has offered this option for many yrs. About time Chevy!!!

Been watching your 2022 Silverado videos from the start. Made a previous comment to you in regards to getting a TB. I didn’t go the route of ordering one, but did have to go out of state. Currently live in RI and the nearest TB that came closest to what I wanted was in New Hampshire. I had to go with the Metallic Blue with black leather interior. Currently in transit arriving early next month. The vehicle I’m replacing that I’ve owned since new is a 02 Tahoe. Needless to say the technology has drastically changed. I find your video’s to be very helpful for me to make this transition. Thanks and keep those videos coming !

Great video! Still not a fan of the console shifter. Its hard getting in and out of work trucks and then having this oddball shifter 🙄 in my personal truck. The wireless charger doesn't like phones with a real man's protective case.

That's amazing, look at all that room to the right of the steering wheel and wonder why they didn't put a column shifter there, these shifters are totally useless if the vehicles dead and stuck in something. You have to physically crawl under the vehicle to put it neutral to even move it

@thedroesslers if you happen to not place it into Park and step out for example will the truck idle away or roll?

  • @thedroesslers

I have not tried, but I assume it would based on if you had it in drive, reverse, or neutral. Once you take your foot off the brake, it would move.

Took my LT Trailboss home 2 days ago. Noticed the parking assist button is not coming on. Hoping its only missing chip and will be fixed later. Did your truck have anything not working?

Just the rear park assist was missing. I should get a retrofit later this year. Enjoy your new truck!

Great explanation of how the shifter works but I have a couple safety questions....1) if your in reverse and open the driver door, will it allow to keep backing up?.....same question for drive, with the door open will it allow you to keep driving forward?......2) Can you accidentally put the shifter in reverse if your driving forward at any speed?....3) will the paddle shifters prevent you from going into too low of a gear like if your at highway speeds etc?

For #1, the truck doesn't care if the door is open. It will allow you to drive or backup. For #2, I don't think so. You could bump it into neutral, but to go in reverse you need to press the button on the left side of the shifter. It is unlikely that you would accidentally do that. I am not sure about #3. I don't have a need to tow in a low gear since I have a fairly light travel trailer. I hope that helps.

#3, you can down shift too low, I prefer it over drive mode, seems to shift a lot better….I’ve found L9 keeps the DFM from working meaning the truck stays in 8 cylinders

#2 no you cant, you must press the button on side of shifter to go into reverse. So a bump forward on the shifter could only put it in neutral, if it was in drive.

When I saw the console shifter at first I thought I wanted it. Now I definitely DON'T want it. Garbage. Doesn't make sense. It's unnatural. I think a Ram engineer must have helped design it smh. Bullshit

The only problem with the shifter is if you have no power. You cannot put the car in neutral. Sucks if your car needs to be towed.

That is correct. The manual says tire skates or dollies must be used under the non-rolling tires to prevent damage while loading/unloading the vehicle.

Do you know how to turn the light off in the center compartment.?

  • @thedroesslers

I didn't even know it stayed on when closing the compartment lid. There is a gap between the lid and the wireless phone charger so I can see it does stay on. I waited 5 minutes and it never turned off so I don't know (but I would like to know).

As long as you have accessory power, you can just push the shifter forward (without pushing in the side button) from park and it will go into neutral. I don't know how you would do it if you have no power at all.

What happens if you accidental press the button for park while driving the vehicle? If a passenger or child happen to hit it. Does it do anything?

  • @thedroesslers

The owners manual says to push down the brake when shifting into park, however I know that is not required when the vehicle is not moving. The manual also says: The vehicle will not shift into P (Park) if it is moving too fast.

After test driving one of these I have to say i don't care for the shifter. Push forward to go to reverse? Then if I was in reverse and pulled it back thinking it was going into neutral, it goes into drive. Had to push it forward to get into neutral. I'm still thinking about buying this vehicle, but this is bothering me. Going to go look at it again and verify this. Just seems like a very poor design. Not sure why they can't just leave it on the column.

Makes zero sense to me. Hopefully they bring back the console shifter and cloth bucker seats at some point. Or here is a crazy idea, take a page out of Subaru's book and in a vehicle that is marketed as "off road" like the AT4/Trail Boss, offer seats with a water proof material.

And those rear console air vents make no sense either. My 21 has them and they have no way to control any airflow and flow next to no air. Waste. Garbage

dont the vents have flaps on them, same as front ones to direct the flow of air?
