Спорт

Scottish midfielder Bobby Collins made 149 appearances for Leeds United, helping the club to promotion to the First Division in 1964, as well as the 1965 FA Cup final. I met bobby in 1987 he stood at the side of me for 45 minutes queuing for tickets for the semi final against Coventry I was gobsmacked and it was only when he got to the window I realised why he got a fistful of tickets for nothing turned to me and winked and said ''see you lad" a lovely chat with a lovely man a true legend

Bobby made his come back from his Turin injury in a game at Old Trafford on May 19th 1966. I wanted to be there, so work let me go home early so that I could go. When I got there watching the game, this young lady came and stood close by, she, a Man United fan, started to wind me up, she did that okay, we married just over a year later. Throughout our marriage, we’ve agreed on just about everything, except football

The world has been in existence for millions of years. I'm grateful I was around to see this fantastic Leeds United team, they were something else. I'm happy to say I've met TC, Norman, Lash & Eddie. I remember saying to Eddie as a youngster growing up I just didn't realise how good they were...He replied "yes we were special." MOT

I've been a Leeds fan for over 50 years but never saw Collins play and am only now learning about his influence on Leeds. Great video!

I lived near Bobby Collin's house as a kid. We used to bike round and hang about hoping to meet/see him. Even though this never happened I made up a story about how he saw us (me and my mate, Tim) and invited us inside and gave us a drink of orange squash.

Superb story and content. What a character and a hard man he was, perhaps too hard but he was playing for us , so that makes it alright !

My family and Collins were friends for decades when i was 15 Bobby was up to meet his family and friends in Pollokshaws Glasgow and he walked up to our pigeon hut ( Bobby and his family were pigeon fanciers). Anyway Bobby said to me whats your surname? i said Pirie he said oh you must be Jack and Sadie's boy and i bet you are Jack same as your Dad. He then asked everyone what there names were and told them to say to their families "Wee Boaby" is asking for them, he was a wonderful player and person

I remember very clearly the crowd chanting ‘banana’ whenever he took a free kick just outside of the penalty area due to his ability to bend the ball. This was with a leather football, not the ping pong ball they play with today.

I was at the Torino game with my father, we had driven to the game in a Ford Zephyr Zodiac, we needed to win and Torino gave us a hell of a physical battering, if that game had been played tody it would have ended up as a five a side game. When that Poletto animal did Bobby it was almost an act of criminality, and he knew that he was a marked man for his violence, I cannot remember him even going near the ball after that as he would had been crippled, such was the feelings in the Leeds team.

When Bobby had his leg broken in Italy by a Torino scumbag called Polletti, he was left alone in an Italian hospital for quite a while. The next game at Elland road the fans sang a song...."Our Bobby lies over the ocean, our Bobby lies over the sea, our Bobby lies over the ocean, so, bring back our Bobby to Leeds!! It was very moving. What a player!
