This series showed Mazzula’s inexperience. He inherited a good team that went to the finals last year. He let’s the team run itself. His inability to adjust after Tatum got hurt and Boston went 0-12 from 3pt range in the first quarter was crucial. One minute he was moving well, the next he was hunched over on the sideline getting his back massaged. That's simply how back injuries work. One moment the pain seems manageable, but you move just a little in the wrong direction and it becomes excruciating. Also, so many of these dudes wanted Lakers V. Celtics so they could play clips of Magic vs. Bird from 40 years ago. That said, it did suck that Tatum got hurt and Brogdon wasn't available, but injuries are just part of it. They need someone like what rasheed brought in detroit. Remember the pistons were contenders in 2002 but got beaten by Boston in 5 games, then the following yr there were #1 seed but got swept by the new jersey nets. The ff yr they felt something's still lacking despite their record and they brought rasheed in. Wallace changed the culture of that team and added toughness which I think what propelled them to win the title in 04.

What they are lacking is someone that can break down the defense with their dribble reliably. Brown and Tatum try but more times than not their success in driving to the basket or pull up is their strength. They need someone that can provide that penetration with quickness and handles, someone that makes good decisions quickly. That or a big man that is enough of an interior scoring threat that in those slow, defense heavy playoff games they can pass it into the paint to draw the defense in rather than Tatum and Brown trying to get it done with their ball handling.

Celtics don't have the floor general. They have the shot makers but not the guy to put everybody in right place, Most teams that usually is the point guard. You can go very far with Jason Tatum but not all the way it seems.

It’s always the people that want to bash Jays and at the same time request the Jays to be on the team. Which one is it. I think the entire league is afraid of the potential of the Boston Celtics if they stay together and that’s the real reason why other franchises are requesting the trade

They need a Bill Russell, you have to play Defense and you can't have 5 guys hanging around outside the 3 point line on offense.

The problem in caltics team is if you put pressure on JB and MS they disappeared because they can not play under pressure so this is the problem in the team so everything is good but the team can not play under pressure when the opsite team keep scoring and they dont play ball movement just 1 vs 1 ball so they cant win like this especially in the finals..

It's called a great coach to take'm to the next level. They run a pedestrian system. Yes, even in the first half of the regular season when they had the best record. Their bread and butter is just 1. drive and kick and 2. shooting 3's over people. They're big, plodding, and lack precision. Tatum/Brown are great players but "streaky shooters". Going behind a screen and hoisting a jumper is a low percentage shot. That's a gift to the other team if you do that with the talent you have.

Not a Celtics fan but 1 of them won’t grow to the full potential next to the other. It isn’t like a klay and Steph type, because both of them can be #1 on a team

Only difference between Udoka & Mazzulla - both had 50 % playoff record, one of them won game 7 against Miami in ECF, the other one lost. Not so much difference as people think there's to be.

I'm not splitting them two up, both of them like 25. The reason in my opinion why they struggled soo much is because they were relying on their talent to get them by, they didn't run any plays. It's a small window for teams that are contending. Granted Mazzulla only had one year but I'm moving on to a coach that the players will respect.

other thing that I don't think gets talked about is how much Brogdon's injury hurt them. These issues were exposed during the finals last year. They signed Brogdon for that very purpose. He can handle without turning it over, hit needed 3's, create his own shot on dribble drives, hit free throws and good playmaker. Everything they needed last night.

Milika Andrews got so much hate for saying Tatum is not a superstar but there are a lot of casual fans don't consider both Tatum and Brown as superstars. In her line or profession, you obviously have to know your sports but I think having someone with shared opinions with casual fans is a good thing.

If you're Brad Stevens you seriously need to consider doing what OKC needed to do a few years ago and what the Jazz did this past offseason and just part it out and get what you can back in draft capital Something isn't working whether it's the players or the instability in coaching the last 3 years or some combination of everything. Like those old OKC teams, this Celtics team on paper should be able to win at the highest level they just aren't. Admit you were wrong and mishandled a lot and start over
