Would you have a minutes silence for soldiers that murdered your Mother, your little sister, your Grandad? Its the equivelent of the brits holding a minutes silence for the German army. And this is coming from me, and English lad born n bread.

They're singing a song called Aidan Macanespie which is about when the British army murdered a 16 year old boy who was on his way home from playing Gaelic football in Ireland for no reason other than the fact that he was Irish. The British army have committed countless atrocities like this in Ireland and throughout all of their colonised nations, why should Celtic fans, or any group of fans for that matter, be blindly expected to obey a minutes silence for the British army's participation in all their illegal wars and terrorist activities? Granted WW2 was a just war, but what about the Falklands, Ireland, Iraq, etc.

As I said WW2 was a just war and so was WW1 but Remembrance Day is to remember all conflicts, cant pick and choose! Fawklands, Iraq, Afghanistan and the countless other occupations Britain has either been involved in or backed financially cannot be ignored, where's there remembrance day for all the civilians who were killed in Ireland and elsewhere?

Does it matter what the silence is for? As a footie fan I have witnessed many silences for fans, players and servants of other clubs and I've ALWAYS observed their silence. To observe the silence is to show respect to those who have passed away AND to show respect to those who call for the silence in the first place. I don't care if they don't agree with the minutes silence for our fallen but I do care that they disrespect those who wish to observe it. Scumbags quite frankly, they have no class

The 3 minutes silences were for Diana, not queen mother like i thought. The omagh silence one guy shouted at the start,he was shushed down and arrested. For 9/11 there was impeccable silence though some people entering the stadium late were singing not realising there was a minutes silence.None of these had or has a place in football. You will note,Celtic fans observed 3 minutes silences for Jim Baxter and 1 for Davie Cooper perfectly, football men.

I apologise for some of my comments. I am just questioning the use of the poppy for modern day politics and respect the conscripts of WWI and WWII, total respect. I also question how honest the Brits are with themselves and if they respect others...the answer is no they don't. I was also stating the reasons why some find it difficult to accept silence for modern day killing machines.

We love the Loughgall Sharpshooters. When did an IRA man ever give his victim a chance? The IRA's claim was that they were in a war. If it was a war, they should expect to get shot down by the enemy at every opportunity. The Ulstermen of the 36th Ulster Division and the Irishmen of the 10th and 16th Divisions were fighting an enemy who stood up to be counted. The IRA hid behind women and children. Difference? The first were heroes, the second murderers.
