Hi , Would it be okay if i use some informal idioms or phrases such as down in the dumps, over the moon, cut corners, stick together through thick and thin, under the weather etc in order to increase my speaking score. Would it affect my speaking score if use them? Your valuable comment on this one would be most appreciated! Thanks. 😊

Can someone, please, ask Brandy (next time she’s on a live show) to explain why CELPIP test takers have to share a room with other individuals during the exam? Thanks.

Hello! The CELPIP Test is a test of English in professional and day-to-day environments. Both of these involve having to engage in conversation (listening and speaking) in groups, crowded settings, and busy workplaces. It is a part of your test.

What if you just can't come up with any useful advice for the topic in 30 seconds? What approach can you take to boost your score?

Hi! Unfortunately, if you are unable to fulfill the main part of the brief, you will get a low score. In any task, the least raters expect of the student is to answer the question. In this case, if you cannot give advice in a task that's asking you to give advice, you will get a poor score even if your other aspects like vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure are sound. Here are a few methods that might help to generate advice: It is easiest to think of content ideas quickly when you base them on your personal life experiences. For instance, can you recall a time when you, or someone you know, experienced a similar situation? If not, have you read any books or seen any movies where the characters experienced similar situations? If not, you may need to use your imagination to invent realistic ideas instead. Ideally, the more you practice, the faster you will become at generating interesting, relevant details which will support a stronger CELPIP Test score.
