The self-titled debut that started it all has turned ten.
At the dawn of the new millennium, songwriter, producer, and multi- instrumentalist Klayton created Celldweller, a ground-breaking aural entity for the next age. Thriving on originality, Celldweller cross-bred electronic styles such as Drum'n'Bass and Psy-Trance with modern Alternative Rock and Metal on his self-titled debut, released independently in 2003.
The Celldweller album met with critical acclaim while climbing to #17 on the Billboard Internet Sales Chart. Celldweller gained Top 40 Metal Radio charting with the track "I Believe You" pulling into a solid 11th place on the R&R Alternative Specialty Show Chart. Achieving a feat shared by only an elite handful of albums, every song on Celldweller was eventually licensed for use in popular media. These songs were heard in movie trailers, TV shows, and games such as Spider Man 2, Constantine, Crackdown, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Enter the Matrix, CSI, UFC, The Shield, and more.
Now, Celldweller has been reissued to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its release with updated artwork and a second disc of remixes, demos, and previously unheard rarities (all remastered for this release). While Klayton busies himself in his Detroit studio preparing the future of Celldweller for 2013, celebrate the past with this monumental work.

Lyrics Inside this fantasy It seems so real to me Synthetic ecstasy, when her legs are open True life behind a wall Where men and angels fall A fading memory, when my mind is frozen I can see a frozen point in time Where her figure still awaits Tongue of fire tracing lips outline Where frozen breath originates With one motion of her waiting eyes She strips everything away This one moment is intensified And colors all fade to grey I am in the only place that i want to be Though we know that it ends eventually But it's alright because right now we're frozen "I want to forget mistakes they've helped me make It's better to be broken than to break" Inside this fantasy It seems so real to me Synthetic ecstasy, when her legs are open True life behind a wall Where men and angels fall A fading memory, when my mind is frozen I can see a frozen point in time That is easy to retrace Light and darkness are both intertwined The elements are in their place with One motion of her wanting mind The real world begins to fade And all the hateful things I have become Temporarily go away Inside this fantasy It seems so real to me Synthetic ecstasy, when her legs are open True life behind a wall Where men and angels fall A fading memory, when my mind is frozen I'll take you anywhere you want to go Far from anything that feels like home (lets go) You are anyone I want to be (it's here and now, and now it's only you and me) It's never enough (mmm that's true) I want to stay here (yeah, and I do too) Breakin' it down(takin' it down) With smell (smell), touch(touch, taste (taste), sight (sight), and sound (sound) How long will I be here without you near because I'm so cold Break them first or I'll get broken is not what I was told, now I'm so cold I'm so cold So cold Inside this fantasy It seems so real to me Synthetic ecstasy, when her legs are open True life behind a wall Where men and angels fall A fading memory, when my mind is frozen Inside this fantasy It seems so real to me Synthetic ecstasy, when her legs are open True life behind a wall Where men and angels fall A fading memory, when my mind is frozen

I feel like people overlook the meaning of this song and only see it as "that funny sex song". Like if you look closely (okay probably not too close the lyrics are right there) it's actually kinda sad. It's about an addiction. Not just to sex, but to the fantasy of being with someone. I like to think of this as a great companion piece to "welcome to the end" (and yes I put an overly long analysis on that video too...). This song is almost like the excitement of a new fantasy. Of escaping the lonely "cold" life outside and pretending to be someone else, and be with someone else. Towards the end the narrator seems to realize how fucked up it all is, "how long will I be here without you here because I am so cold! "Break them first or I'll get broken" is not what I was told Now I'm so cold" I think this shows it's about a breakup. But the singer initiated it. He broke up with her because he thought she would break up with him first. But now he's lonely because of it. thus, the fantasy. Isolation is another theme that shows up in a lot of these songs, I'd even argue that isolation is the main theme of the whole album. "better to be broken than to break." or, better to isolate yourself from others than to continually get hurt by them.

You are not far off, but I do not think this is about a breakup. It is about longing rather. The theme is present in Klayton's other songs such as "Girl I Have Never Met" and a plethora of his Scandroid ones - Salvation Code and Datastream most prominently.

Although I've known Celldweller aka Klayton for about 10 years now, I've never delved into his other songs cuz I found a few from a game soundtrack from Need for Speed most wanted and I also heard of other 2 songs like Ghost and Symbiont. Symbiont has been on repeat on my playlist on itunes since then. But now that I discovered this badass song from that movie, I finally checked out his other tracks and damn I have no regrets Klayton rules.
