Love that Celine gives recognition to John Farnham....not many people can do this song justice but I love that she is a fan of John's and is still putting it out there. And also just reminds me how amazing Farhams vocals are.

Credit to who? Chris "The Voice" Thompson wrote it, and being "the voice", he, of course, sings it better than anyone else. What Farnham brought to the party was getting confused and getting all the notes wrong on "down the barrel of a gun", a mistake that propagated through many other covers, including Celine's. You need to hear Chris sing it. John Farnham is maybe the number 5 version. Maybe. Aside from getting crushed by Chris Thompson, he gets thoroughly stomped by Heart, Naturally 7, and a version Vivica recorded when she was 15.

I hope the Canadians felt the sheer power of this song that night. It truly is of those songs that you can hear just once and tell you’re listening to something exceptional.

You know ,she acknowledges JF. Then gives her interpretation. She has done this for over 12 months now and always mentions John. She loves the song and loves him. She is a class act. She has my respect and love. Long may she sing her version of this wonderful song. It's a tribute to an amazing vocalist from Australia. ( her words) Just enjoy it everyone.

I saw the video of them singing together in Melbourne. You could see how excited she was to perform it with John. And in Australia she didn't have to teach the crowd the melody.. :)

Perfection? That would be Chris "the voice" Thompson. Farnham scatters wrong notes all over the place, including an appalling run of 9 consecutive wrong notes in "the barrel of a gun" which just sucks the life out of Chris's awesome song. Once you hear Chris sing it, you realize how Farnham cheated the world out of what the song could have been.

It was a good attempt and she obviously loves Fanhams song but it was made for him - he is The Voice

this song's words are more relevant today than 30 years ago

I don’t think the audience would have heard all the words. It would have been more powerful for them if the words were displayed on the screen. It is a truely inspirational song.

I like how this song is rediscovered and realised it’s incredible beauty decades later. Was used inspirationally in the movie Hot Rod. It is indeed an anthem here in Australia.

I LOVE this song, and I didn't know Celine did a cover of it. Truly amazing. I love the effort she took to involve the audience too! 💚💚💚

​@@josephwisniewski3673 Eek, just listened to them all, Chris Thompson is the only one who came close, but great as his voice was (and I'll admit, I didn't realise it was so good - I've only heard his speaking voice before), it's not better than John's live performances. The others are all horribly generic. So some 15 year old girl can sing in tune, well done to her, there's more to giving a great performance than that.

i love the way she enjoy the company of her fans, taking time for them and be part of her concert not just to finish her concert then go. i think its herkey for a successful career to stay grounded and always acknowledge those people who put her from where she is now.

She rocked in Miami too ! Was real close ! She is beautiful and amazing live with the voice of an angel , total class and such an incredible personality

I just watched Celine sing this with John when he was 69. She has always said she was his number one fan and she gave him so much respect. It was emotional and funny, like two fans meeting one of their favourite singers. I think they both forgot they are famous.

The original tone was kind of low for Celine, that's why I think she doesn't sound so powerful, despite her incredible voice. Still I loved her recognition to John and of course the song that is an anthem of música.

The devastating part is I can hear her voice breaking. This was before anyone knew she was having vocal issues. I love that she gave John the recognition he deserves with this amazing song. We love you Celine! Always. 💜

The original is great too from Johnny Farnham kind of our Aussie anthem but what makes you special Celine; I love that always represent, you get this song's meaning and then make it yours too spreading the message of it further... I hope one day I see you live xx

I was there too. Even with a sick voice, and recovering from her throat virus, she was amazing.

Have been listening to this women my whole life. Is one of my mother's favourites she was always singing and playing her music around the house, in the car, at kareoke etc.

There's a lot of gesturing, especially through "down the barrel of a gun" that people use to add emphasis where the song flounders because Farnham missed nine notes in a row. When it's sung the way Chris Thompson wrote it (preferably by Chris "the voice" Thompson himself) that line hits hard without you having to flail your arms around to signal "Here it is! This part's important!"
