Those 3 artists are legends here in Quebec. Jean-Pierre is a singer/songwriter. Ginette is as talented as Céline. Ginette is Céline's first musical idol. René managed Ginette's career before Céline. René wanted to bring her career to international status but she declined. So you get the feeling of that song : the english translation of this title song would be "A little bit higher, a little bit further".

Céline’s resonance along with Whitney’s one are unmatchable. There are lots of great singers with great mixed belts, but these two ladies could hit real chest, resonated, raw and explosive belts that sounded like nobody’s.

at the start we can hear the explosive and raw power like withney houston of celine dion's chest voice ... this clear powerful piercing and resonant in the highs; she has a super high natural voice, that for me is a real chest chest power ....... up to D5 .... the note without problem ... I love this real powerful chest voice

Hello from Montreal! Just for your information, so, Mr. Jean-Pierre Ferland is a singer with not that much voice range but a nice voice a "poetic" voice, what we call here in french "un chansonnier"(dont know if there is a equivalent in english), but he his mostly a wonderful composer, what they sang that night was a song that he composed many decades ago for Ginette Reno, it was at a special event on Mount-Royal! I was there !!! Also, many decades ago Ginette Reno had as a manager René Angelil who prepared for her a international career planification, but she said no, to remain here in Québec .... So many years after when René Angélil first heard at that time a very young Céline Dion... "the international career planification" was already made !!! So that night I guess what you felt was also the emotions of that duo they had, for Céline had made it international .... Ginette Reno had a career in France.... but is here "our signer" mostly singing in french..... her last album was recently platinum here! I hope my english writing is not to difficult to understand, for I'm french speaking ... Have a great day! :-)

YEEEEEES! OK I am so happy you saw this....!!!!!!!!! This was a magical musical moment for many in Quebec. You are now seeing Céline roots! This was a concert to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the city of QUEBEC. Céline was the head liner and shared the stage with many famous Québecois musicians... letting them sing some of their most memorable hits and/or joining them. Famously, Céline accommodates and sings in the key that is best for the artist ( notice the key change before Ginette started to sing). If Céline is the "Queen" of music and Ginette is the "Queen Mum". If you do not know the story, René Angelil was Ginette's manager and she FIRED him as she did not love the pressure of an International career ( there is likely more to this but trying to keep it short)... René had no artist when he received the tape of Céline singing "Ce n'était qu'un rêve" and decided to take a chance on this young talented singer. Had Ginette not fired René, the Céline we know today might not have risen to where she is... In any case, this was a monumental moment when they sang together, Céline VERY aware that HER career was what it was as she stepped into a plan René had for a previous artist... it was truly musical MAGIC. The cherry at the end of a 2hour concert... Céline singing a duo with Queen Mum!!!!

You are right about Ginette Reno, she is a legend here in Québec. She was 62 in this video and Jean-Pierre Ferland was 74. You should react to "Ginette Reno - Un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin (1975), she was 29 and only considered a pop singer at the time but that performance blew everyone away and made her a legend. If you love her emotion in the video with Céline, you should definitely check the video from 1975, she did not "act" the song, she WAS the song!!! There's another video : "La Voix 6 - Ginette Reno en prestation à la finale", that was made in 2018, she's 72 and is still incredible.

I have not a good English, but I will try to explain a bit this video. Ginette Reno had René Angelil has a manager. He wanted to make an international star with her, but she quit him for another man and for her family. When she saw after that Celine was an international star, she regrets her decision. There were not close... But Ginette accepted to sing with Celine and it was like: ok, I love you, it's not your fault, you didn't take my place, you take the place that was there because of my choice. Ginette Reno is, after Céline maybe, the best singer in Québec. She deserved an international carreer. I think it's the first time that she sing with Celine. And Celine ask that Ginette come to stage bye the middle, because she deserved it. They sing the beautiful song of Jean-Pierre Ferland, another excellent artist from Québec. Excuse my English!

Hey I really like the reactions you make to the various videos ... especially those of Céline. I particularly liked your review of this Celine's video with Ginette Reno and Jean-Pierre Ferland (A little higher). I write to you simply for the pleasure of explaining the context of this video. It was shot live from a cult site in Quebec City (the Plains of Abraham) on the occasion of the city's four-hundredth anniversary. The man who sings with her at the beginning (Jean-Pierre Ferland) is a Quebec songwriter. He has often collaborated with Celine and has written several French songs, for her. The woman who sings with Céline (Ginette Reno) is a singer beloved by Quebecers. René Angélil has already wanted to launch her career internationally but the woman preferred to stay with his family. She has won many prestigious awards in the French-speaking world. The emotion of the video you watched can be explained in part by the place where the festival takes place (The Plains of Abraham, wich is an important historic site in Quebec), the fact that Celine Dion is present to mark the event. Also, the text of the song makes the moment memorable. lyrics: A little higher, a little further A little higher, a little further I want to go a little further I want to see how it is up there Keep my arm, hold my hand A little higher, a little further I want to go even further Leave my arm but hold my hand I will not go further than it is necessary Still a step, still a jump A storm and a brook Beware, beware, I released your hand Wait for me down there, I will return Still a step, a small step Still a jump and I am there Up there if I do not fall Not, I am there, I do not fall It is beautiful, it is beautiful If you saw the world at the bottom, over there It is beautiful, it is beautiful The sea smaller than oneself But you do not see me A little further, a little more lonely I do not want to be far all alone How to be beautiful When we are high, how we are beautiful A little higher, a little further I can not hold your hand anymore Tell me how I could go up How to go down without A little further, a little more strong Still a jump, still on try I would like to hold you my arms I am too high, you are too low Still a step, a small step You are too far, I love you Good-bye, good-bye, I will return If I go down again without falling It is beautiful, it is beautiful If you saw the world at the bottom over there It is beautiful, it is beautiful The sea smaller than oneself But you do not see it A little higher, a little further I will go even further Perhaps but a little higher I will find other ways

Also Rene’ was Ginett’s manager but left him to go back to normal life. Rene’ was thinking of quitting music but then he got this little cassette tap wrapped with a red ribbon. It was from a little known singer called Celine Dion! The rest is history! Love them both!

Ginette Reno is the original MVP and is nearly deaf and suffers from tinnitus. In her advanced 70’s she remains a force to recon with.

at the start we can hear the explosive and raw power like withney houston of celine dion's chest voice ... this clear powerful piercing and resonant in the highs; she has a super high natural voice, that for me is a real chest chest power ....... up to D5 .... the note without problem ... I love this real powerful chest voice

Ginette Reno's childhood is in some ways is very reminiscent to Aretha Frankin's, emotionally charged women are two of a kind. I like Celine Dion Whitney Houston Barbra" Streisand Gladys Knight and etc. all have very good showomenships but they do not all bring childhood emotions as the two formers. Check out Ginette Reno's duo with Lionel Richie on stage performing his song "Hello", Ginette is 75 years old and can still hold notes as if she was 14, just an awesome performance.

sir...the big story...ginette reno..was rené angelil first superstar...but in the 70>,s..ginette husband didnt want her to have an oversea carrere...and years later he ( rené-- angelel ) found celine...so this song..tell little about...reaching the top its beautifull..look at the people ...carefull to step down slowly...this explain celine's crying...because what she got...ginette left it to her...

Did you know that Ginoreno was offered by Rene Angelil, before he knew Celine, to be her agent for an international career but Ginette declined.
