Celica GT4 Roll Cage Fabrication!

Bars going in! Nothing like when you start to see a project take shape. Always fun planning and talking about all the ideas on where to place components. Once that's done, you can start cutting away metal you won't use and start adding it where you want it. Watching Victor bend, notch, and prep this cage was awesome. One of his favorite things to do is cagework and I think it shows!

And yet I did not see one decent chamfer on the cage tubes. Some people say cage tubes only need to be deburred, not chamfered, but they are wrong. Testing of cage spec joints by both load cell and cut/acid etch has proven time and again that a full depth chamfer is best. When you are welding the inside of a joint less than 90 degrees, there is a possibility there won't be full penetration to the id of the tube. The more acute the angle, the greater the possibility this is happening. Imagine the joint is like a valley, the steeper the valley, the greater the chance of the weld bridging higher up the valley, rather than getting right to the bottom of the V. Modern cages are full of acute joints. I'm not saying the cage is garbage, it's just not best practice. #SEMAspec

Incredible work. This is why cages are expensive - not even counting material cost, the time it takes to do all this (not to mention the years of honing their skillset) is crazy. My favourite part was the 3/4 cut in the vertical door tube, that is so clean
