Celica Alltrac ST165, Launch control test ("two-step")

Making some noise with the launch control. GT3071R 3sgte. Only running 0.9 bar boost now. Will tune the engine for some serious boost in a few weeks...

    I would suggest you run a momentary push-button switch as well you the clutch switch to engage the launch control. That way you can press the switch in during launch then after just let go and shift normally instead of engaging the launch control setting between shifts.

    @surlograsp Nope, by 1988 (when the st165 All trac Celica was introduced) the Supra no longer had "celica attatched to it's name (the last "celica supras" came out in early 86 and in 86 and a half the Mk III's came out with the celica moniker dropped. This is an AWD turbo 2.0L version of the standard st165 Celica.

    3SGE you mean for the n/a GTS. 3SGT is a 670hp turbo race engine for le mans, otherwise known as the 503E engine. also in 1986 the st162 was also produced (ST and GT got a 2S-E 8 valve SOHC) and the GT-Four st165 was japan only for 86/87.

    @crosbikeman damn straight. 3sgte's are the best engines Toyota ever made. Capable of 600 hp, and bolt one into the FF one of these, then you will have some serious go.

    No such thing as a standard n/a ST165. The ST165 is Toyota's model code for the 1987-1989 GT4 or the All Trac Celica Turbo. It was introduced to the U.S. market as a 1988 model. The "standard" n/a (3SFE/3SGT) is designated as the ST162 and was produced from 87-89 in all the major markets. Stateside, they were labeled as ST, GT & GTS. ST and GT had the 3SFE while the GTS had the 3SGT.

    not necessarily. the GT model of this generation of celicas was the lightest model (in the US at least, in europe they had a 4a-ge model of this celica) theoretically, dropping in the motor from the 89 celica alltrac would make it 200hp with only 1200kg (same numbers as the new brz/fr-s, albeit fwd)

    MS2Extra launchcontrol and flatshift. The launch rpm is too low rpm this low boost level (0.9bar). It did 442awhp@1.6 bar (E85) after some tuning. It will easy spinn all wheels with the launchcontrol at 4500 rpm. The flatshift function gives instant boost but it's alot harder to shift with my worn syncros...

    nice, what about the suspension and brakes? the original ones are standards for 80s - which means they're pretty crappy for today's standards...
