Great to see these wonderful speakers driven by such a great front end. I have a pair of Ditton 66 speakers in great condition and just love them. Installed all new solens caps & had the tweeters replaced (and properly crossed over & integrated) with more modern soft domes & what an improvement! More focus, tightness & openness, huge scale, & just amazing depth and musical enjoyment & fun from these well designed classics. I've tried Focals, ProAc and others, and they have their strengths, but side by side nothing I've tried has been as all around full and enjoyable as these for me so far. Vintage HiFi goodness!

@@davealp669 Nice. Have the capacitors replaced, and perhaps upgrade the tweeters with modern soft domes or maybe even beryllium or ribbons. You'll need a good tech guy who can make sure they are crossed over properly so they integrate well with the midrange driver. You'll hear a big difference.

These truly sound delightful (especially for their time), but honestly I think they're challenged by this song in particular the bass is kind of disconnected and some of the trails of the keys' sparkle are sounding dissonant at times 01:40 (makes me wonder if the speaker is too slow). I could be wrong and it's all due to positioning, but I'm glad I found this channel.
@Justwantahover

The top end is particularly good (excellent upper highs) but the piano is a bit iffy and colored but better on the higher notes (sparkling treble notes). But the voice sound is muffly and "in the box". Bass is a bit lost (as you said).The recording maybe, or the old speakers maybe (no speaker is perfect) and positioning may help (as you said).

Check out the Triangle floor standing (horn tweeter) speakers. Good treble. Then check out the Cube Audio floor standing (single driver) speakers. They fail badly in the treble, with terrible "S's" on the voice sound. And I'm a fan of single driver speakers (so it's not my bias) but the Cube Audio speakers are the worst I heard on KZread for treble (lol). And colored in the mid to upper med (and can sound harsh, they might say "lively"). lol I can't believe they actually think they sound good. Really hissy resonance in the treble (at around 7 khz) and it blocks any detail. I tried them on a few demos on KZread and still the same hissy treble. And they are really EXPENSIVE, with la-de-da people selling that snake oil. Fostex are way better and Fostex aren't expensive.
