I’ve had the same situation...40 years now. I can tell you I read my husband’s patriarchal blessing one afternoon during the kids’ naps and saw again how much the Lord loved him. So I knelt and poured out my heart that I was dying inside and how I felt there was bait and switch from dating to marriage. I pleaded with Heavenly Father to share his love for my husband with me because I was no longer in love, but I wanted to keep my covenants and keep our family together. I pleaded for protection from the adversary’s efforts to destroy us. The Lord has been very generous with these blessings I sought that long ago day. I have a love for him and we’ve become good friends. We’ve walked the covenant path with fervor and steadfastness. I have made myself available for physical intimacy any time he requests because I took Pres. Hinckley’s council to put his needs before mine. (But without emotional intimacy I admit I just wasn’t that into it.) When the kids grew up and left home I was left wondering, “What now?” But the Lord has graciously kept us busy with service at church and in the community. He’s a really good man. Honestly. But the big void of emotional intimacy has been the main test in my life for enduring to the end. I’m hoping in the hereafter he will be healed of his self-consciousness and embarrassment that he covers up by mocking such intimacy, and we will be blessed to have that critical component for staying IN love. I can’t handle thinking of eternity being the way it’s been in mortality. I do not regret that I’ve stayed, just so you know. And I hope you have the strength to stay or go as you feel guided by our Father in Heaven. Believe me, I’ve seen many, many marriages in the church that are loveless because of abuse of varying types, so a marriage based on friendship isn’t bad....it’s just not better or best. Best wishes.

What if a man truly has no desire to be married yet is faithful to God will he be denied exaltation even though in his heart he doesn't wish to marry yet has been faithful in everything else God has commanded him to the best of his ability or will he be denied and made lesser even though he has been faithful and is punished for what he truly desires.

It’s called a cancellation. You have to send a letter to the first presidency to cancel it. If you do cancel, the man remains sealed to the kids. You can stay sealed and have faith that you will be happy together in the next life as exalted beings. But if the woman wants to get remarried to someone else in the temple, then you have to cancel. The man doesn’t have to cancel. He just needs permission from from his previous wife to be sealed to another woman.

Commandments uphold the highest of standards- they are not made to control people- they are made to set moral standards for us to follow. It is up to an individual to to choose to accept them or not. To criticize an Apostle of the Lord is to criticize the Lord himself. Do you not think the Lord has standards n expectations for n of his people? True followers will not criticize these standards but will embrace them. You do not dictate to the Lord any policies but He sets the rules for good reason. The test is this- to allow you to choose to live by His higher standards or the world's. Your choice buddy!

Hey Atrus! That's a fantastic question. Hopefully I can clarify our church's doctrine here. Our church teaches that salvation is an individual matter and that exaltation is a family matter. Those two words sound very similar, but are in fact quite different! We teach that anyone who accepts Christ (which the scriptures teach eventually is virtually everyone - "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess") shall eventually receive a place of glory. Only those who knowingly reject Jesus Christ after having a knowledge of him (sons of perdition - like Judas Iscariot) are not given this gift. So you could look at that as "being saved." That is through God's grace. After all we can do, we still fall short and need that grace for salvation. But the Savior further taught that in His Father's kingdom there are many mansions. The "mansion" we receive, so to speak, is based on our actions here in mortality and after death prior to the final judgment. As literal children of God, those who receive the "highest mansions" or "bodies celestial" as Paul taught must enter into the everlasting covenant of eternal marriage. This is how our Heavenly Father created us. We don't exactly know all the details of that process; it hasn't been revealed to us yet and probably won't be until we reach that space, but our marriages here on earth prepare us for that divine process later on. As I've personally studied the doctrines of our church, my own take is that most every heavenly gift we will eventually receive is preceded by an earthly pattern for us to learn. Now, many don't have the opportunity for eternal marriage here on earth. We're taught that everyone will have that opportunity at some point, and even if it's not in this life, those who keep the commandments and strive to follow Jesus will be given every opportunity to do so in the next life. Hopefully this all makes sense. If you have any other questions, I'd love to discuss this more, and I'd love to hear about your faith and beliefs, as well. I find so often that there are striking similarities between different faiths, and I'd love to learn more about your thoughts and beliefs.

If you don’t want to get married then don’t, I think your relationship with God is between you and him. No one is forced to get married, and it is said that in the after life of one so desires they can get married there too. Life doesn’t end here. Live it the way you feel God intended you to live.

Jesus Christ is the final authority. No one will be married in heaven. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ (Mat 10:34-36) The God of truth (Isa. 65:16) is the God of the Bible. Since truth divides, then Jesus would naturally divide his followers away from those who reject and hate God’s truth, even one’s natural family members. Remember, Jesus divides families: Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:51-53) Jesus Came To Divide - NOT Bring Peace On Earth To be worthy of Jesus and eternal life, one must side with God’s truth even though it divides his own family.

MATTHEW 22 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. 30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. 31 But about the resurrection of the dead-have you not read what God said to you, 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’[b]? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching.

To start with this talk saying ... a world bounding with misery says it all. Unbelievable brain washing comments. Look at the positives that we have come to accomplish. This is meant to cause fear and control from a apostle? Why do you think? Please learn Christs teachings not this control. This is not what Christ's authority would agree with. Some good but all control factors you need to see.
