In this video, myself & Vayu Tiger discuss Celestial Ascent as it appears in a variety of late antique sources. Beginning with defining core ideas such as Nous & Logos we move through case studies of planetary ascent from Pythagoras & Plato in the Myth of Er to Scipio's Dream & Macrobius' commentary before exploring how the process of Reincarnation & Exorcism appears in Corpus Hermeticum 1 & 13, especially in the Rebirth of Tat. We also discuss the idea of Hermetic communities, rituals & initiation.

I don't think Iamblichus believed that the angels were actually Gods but that they are in a technical sense, not really different. The Gods are present in their angels who can lift you closer to the deity. At least that's my understanding
simply the desire/need to eat food and drink water is not inherently ignorant/evil when clearly the fuel is necessary for forms or bodies to create the dance/energy. at what point does one need to starve themself infinitely to achieve so-called goodly nous or celestial fixed star?

Biological drives/needs are not described negatively, only necessary. Irreverence & Ignorance are often described specifically in relation to Nous & the lack of knowledge of it.

Kind of an exaggeration of what the texts implies. Which merely points to living in harmony consciously.
