Hi Tom! Just got off Ascent and although we loved our aqua class balcony we decided to go with the sunset balcony for XCel in 2025. Your videos are always so helpful! Happy New Year to you and your family. Happy sailing

Thank you! It was great meeting you as well. I loved talking to all of the folks in our community. There are so many amazing people that sailed on the Ascent with me. It was really heartwarming to get a chance to speak with everyone.

Thanks for sharing, Tom. Nice to have met you in person on this Ascent ship last week. Unfortunately, no time to get together to chat more as everyone was busy exploring the ship, meals, entertainment, excursions etc... Question : did you feel any motion sickness with the Sunset verandah stateroom during this trip when the weather was lousy? We were on deck 11 mid-ship and felt it when the weather was bad, especially the night before disembarkation day. Overall, this cruise was fantastic. We enjoyed watching your informative videos. Thanks again!

My favorite part about this cruise was meeting all of the wonderful people subscribed to this channel. It made my week. I did not feel any motions sickness, however I do remember the final night. I woke up at around 4-5 am thinking we need to abandon ship. That shaking was violent enough to wake me out of bed alarmed. I can definately understand if people got motion sickness. I am not sure what was going on but I am glad Captain got us home safely. I agree this was a fantastic cruise. One of my favorite vacations to date. Thanks again for being part of our community. I very much appreciate you!

Tom why didn't your cabin have loungers like other sunset verandas on the accent and beyond.

That's a very good question, John. I do not know. I think its because it was a new ship and they needed to button up a few things.

We will sail on the Ascent in a few months. Can you ask for a lounger in a Sunset Veranda?

Yes, you can ask your stateroom attendant to replace the chair with a lounger. My suggestion is to do it on the first day when you get to your room. I hope you enjoy your cruise. Cheers!

Hi. I talked to you a couple of times on the ship. we stayed on the other end of the ship in 9109. Large sloped window. It did make it feel like a larger room.

Thanks for the follow-up. I asked for a mattress topper, but they were all out by the second night. I figured a lot of guests shared my opinion on the hardness of the bed.

Hello, in your room tour video of the Sunset Veranda on the Summit, you said that a SV was automatically in Conceirge class. I posted a question to you about that on that video. I am booked on the Ascent in 6 weeks in the same room that you're in now, 9326. I don't see Conceirge on my booking. Conceirge was listed as a separate option when booking the Ascent cabins. So, are all Celebrity SVs indeed in Conceirge class or no? Thanks!

You are correct. For some reason the Summit SV on deck 9 was automatically part of conceirge class. I still can not figure out why. However the SV on the Ascent is not. Our room did not come with conceirge perks. I need to contact Celebrity and get more clarification on the Summit SVs. Ill update this once I hear back.

Was this a Sunset Veranda on Deck 12? I wondering about potential noise from above and if it's best to choose a lower deck?

I was in room 9326. It was on Deck 9. I had family in the sunset veranda on Deck 11 and they did not notice any noises. However if you are below a public area of the ship, I would absolutely skip that room. Do not pick a room that sits below or around a public/crew area of the ship. Especially if you are sensitive to noises. The view is just as good on Deck 11, 10, 9 etc. My suggestion is to pick a room on those deck. I hope this answered your question. Cheers!

Nice video Tom. I’m staying in 9322 in November to ABC islands. Question: I noticed some SV cabins have loungers on the balcony also. Did you inquire about that? Thanks

Hi Steven! Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I did ask about the loungers. They do not come by default, but you can request them via your stateroom attendant. Just make sure to do it when you get on the ship. They may run out towards the end of your cruise.

That’s why I tip them as soon as I meet them. They take extra great care of you most of the time. Once on the Silhouette recently, that didn’t work. lol

Hello, people are complaining that there are noises in the Ascent cabins like have been reported on the Beyond. Like creaking and popping sounds. Did you hear any of that in this cabin? Thanks

Hello! Thanks for your comment. I did not hear any noises at all. I spoke to several subscribers and guests on the ship as well. None stated they had any issues.

You are most welcome. The balcony is half covered. So you have both shade and sunshine. However people can see you from above when you stand closer to the railing. I would not be very concerned about it because it's mostly covered but something to keep in mind. If you don't want to be seen, you have to stand a foot or two away from the railing. I am fairly certain you will like the design.

Hi Tom. Those chairs on the balcony look kind of cheap and small for such a big space. We’ve had nicer chairs on older Celebrity ships. Also, why no coffee table by the couch? Where would you put room service? One more thing, that safe is tiny. Other than that the room looks beautiful.

Yeah, we always put our morning room service coffee on it. I guess we’ll just put it by the outlet box.

Nice room. I thought for sure you'd drop the camera into the ocean when you went to get that sound byte.....fortunately you didn't (or if you did you had a spare camera).

I am glad you like the room, C-Bass! The camera is attached to my arms via a safety harness. So there is no chance of it going over, even if I let go of it. Safety first! ;)
