International Iqbal Society celebrated Rumi Day in collaboration with the Punjab Institute of Language, Art, and Culture (PILAC) on December 17, 2023. The program started with a mesmerizing recitation of the Holy Quran by Muhammad Aafaq Lone followed by beautiful Kalam e Iqbal by Hasibah Jamshaid. Selected verses of Maulana's Mathnawi were soulfully recited by Usama Mustafa.
Dr. Fahad Khan (Psychologist - Chicago, USA), our guest speaker delivered an enriching talk on the topic, 'The Inner Journey: Exploring Human Emotions with Rumi and Iqbal'. His talk was followed by two eloquent performances of 'Whirling Dervish' by PILAC.
'Rumi Bargah e Risalat SAW Main' was the topic for Prof. Moeen Nizami (Dean, Faculty of Oriental Learnings, Punjab University, Lahore), and who could have been a better person for this.
Hosting and moderation were done by Ayesha Akhtar (Dir. Marketing & PR, IIS) and Honorable Dr. Attiya Syed (Iqbal Scholar) presented souvenirs to the worthy guest speakers. The souvenir was a beautiful calligraphy of Maulana Jalal ud Din Rumi's name by renowned calligrapher, Mr. Jamal Muhsin in his signature style.
