Kuya Noel's Birthday Celebration that we thought, will never happen. Five months ago, he fell ill that he was only given a very slim chance that he will make it. His wife, Roanna, cut her vacation short in Uk and 24 hours later, she was at his bedside. He was intubated in ICU for almost 2 weeks. Her eldest daughter, flew from USA, literally, to say her goodbye. The day when their going to remove his tube is the most painful and distressful time for everyone who was there for him and his family. His sister Divina, Roanna's sister Jing, Jenny and I were there to support Roanna and the kids (Anne, Angel & James). We were given few minutes to spend time with him which we, actually, utilized every minute of it, talking to him, instructing him to breath on his own when they pull the tube out. There were lots of face time with his families in the Philippines, America and Canada. Then we were told to leave the room as they were going to extubate him.
The kids didn't come to the hospital that day. Anne took her sibling out for shopping and movie. They need this because this situation has been very traumatic to them already. They need some timeouts.
About 10 mins later, we were called back to ICU... The tube was out... he has been extubated!
Miracles of all miracles... he survived!!! Thank you God for the gift of Life!!!
... and Five Months later... We are Celebrating his 68th Birthday. Thank God that he could never remember what happened to him.
On his 68th Birthday Celebration, he was surprised to see his friends that he haven't seen for a long time. This has become not only a Birthday Celebration but also a reunion of family and friends. There was not a dry eye in room when he delivered his very emotional speech.
I would like to take this opportunity and to put this on record... and commend Noel's wife, Roanna, who has been very resilient! You are one tough woman... I don't know how you did it but I really admire how you pulled this through! kuya Noel and the kids are very lucky to have you. You really rock, sister!!!
