In 2023, Councilmember Tim McOsker declared the first Croatian Heritage and Culture Week in the City of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Harbor area is home to one of the largest Croatian populations outside of Croatia. The history and culture of Croatian people is intertwined with that of the Port of Los Angeles, with many immigrants making their way to San Pedro throughout the 20th century to find work in the fishing and canning industries.
