This lecture introduces the concept of soil liquefaction and what causes it. The idea of liquefaction susceptibility is discussed, including historic criteria, geologic criteria, compositional criteria, and stress state criteria. Liquefaction initiation is briefly introduced.

It's been a real treat to understand more about Liquefaction.
All this is common sense when you work all kinds of soil As profession. Can also be theorizded but is never very exact. Better learn by observing nature. Geology, soil structures and the behaviour of any material in special conditions. Its life long observing, building and learning. Videos on landslides and such are helpful. Says a meteorologist.
Dear professor We are all told that liquefaction realized after around 1964 by engineers so what Casagrande's talking about is not liquefaction, right ? He's not know he's dealing with liquefaction at all ?

Scientifically speaking you would get more credibility if you spelled the topic of your subject correctly. If you check there is a difference between 'liquefaction' and 'liquifaction' . In this case, the correct word to use would be : 'LIQUIFACTION'

I have seen it spelled as 'liquefaction' in most literature texts, e.g. Kovacs and Holtz textbook. I have never heard of 'liquifaction'

What's liquifaction? Google suggests 'liquefaction' when I type 'liquifaction.
