From Mort Smith's archives. This is from 1980 (thanks guys for pinpointing the year) . The Barco monitors were typical of those used in broadcast at the time.

Go for 1980 as Swap Shop finished in 1982. It was Saturday Superstore between 1982 - 1987

In fact, Pages from Ceefax were first shown as an experiment on BBC2 during an afternoon trade test in March 1980, then later that same month BBC1 showed pages with tone and music every morning from 17th March 1980 and then BBC2 started showing pages from CEEFAX on 2nd June 1980.

Interestingly Maggie Philbin was also the name of a character in a 1970s US detective drama series, played by Sharon Gless. The series was called Switch and it starred Robert Wagner.

judging by Noelie's birthday card on ceefax, I'd say it was Saturday 9 February 1980

Damn, that dinosaur is scary. I swear I saw its mouth move. I came for pixellated graphics and left with nightmares for the rest of my life! :D

4:32 I wonder if this is the first in-vision broadcast of a Ceefax page. Notice, It doesn't have the background color that Mort's monitor has, so it seems not to be the final version of the device

a good video clip...totally RUINED by a bit of Channel 4 continuity and what looks like a clip from Casualty on the end!
