CEDAW stands for Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women and was adopted in 1979. It was preceded by the United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women of 1967. This is an important document. This video is amazing.

That's probably one of the most ridiculous things I've heard. You do realise that we do need an agreed standard that can be applied internationally right? If you were to use your holy text instead of CEDAW, you'd end up with a theocracy. You'd also essentially be violating a crucial part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that states that people have freedom of religion.
