Cedar Walton was not only a great pianist but an elegant composer. Was fortunate to hear him along with Dewy Rodman,Billy Higgins and Dave Williams when they came to New Delhi, India and played at our Jazz Yatra ( festival)in Feb 1922. They group was outstanding .

A typo . Cedar Walton played at the Jazz Yatra in New Delhi India in Feb 1992 and not Feb1922

I've just become aware of Cedars piano playing and the groups he formed. He reminds me of Monks playing and groups sound. But with a Evans touch, very elegant. This cat was great and came so later. I didn't even know they were playing jazz like this in the 21st century. Kudos.

Cedar Walton is strangely very underrated. He had impeccable taste, and near-flawless touch--what more could one ask for in a jazz pianist?

One of the final Rudy Van Gelder recordings, yet another masterpiece tracked in some guy's living room. I saw Cedar on a few magical occasions accompanying Milt Jackson, along with Ray Brown and Mickey Roker. Magnificently incestuous, this world of jazz.
