Wonderful to see and hear Mr Billy Higgins in full action with such a fantastic drumsolo. He really knew have to handle the sticks and brushes. Nothing but brilliant! And of course the rest of the gentlemen are top class too!

I have been fortunate to see/hear Max Roach, Elvin Jones, Roy Haynes, Eddie Blackwell, Eddie Moore, Albert 'Tootie' Heath, Joe Farnsworth, and Billy Higgins (more times than any of the others, three times with Cedar Walton, also with Ornette) and Billy is my favorite of all these! He and Cedar were like telepathic after decades of playing together, taking each other out for long walks. Hope they still are.

Brilliant music. Walton's love for Duke Ellington who had recently passed in 1974 is clear and touching to hear.

Where's jazz going for you? Mr Jordan: "I plan on playing another 7 years, then retire and dig in the garden." Classic.

The Magic Triangle, one of the great rhythm sections. This quartet recorded several albums under Mr Jordan’s leadership, as Clifford Jordan and the Magic Triangle. All on Steeple Chase, I believe; some live, 2-3 studio masterpieces.

That concert simply changed my musical life! I happened to be there and have never seen a group like this one before. I'm still not sure if it wasn't the best group i have ever seen after all these years and I have seen and heard plenty. "The Maestro" trio version is particularly outstanding. We miss these incredible musicians! Thousand thanks for sharing this, can't thank you enough!!!

Very good point. Billy is similar to his peer Eddie Blackwell in this regard, and their younger compatriot Eddie Moore (who passed away first). White boy Joe Farnsworth is mighty good at techniques, tonalities, rhythms and polyrhythms I think you are referring to as 'Africanisms', too, as I recall from seeing him with Pharaoh Sanders in Oakland.
