I can tell you exactly how we deal with ticks in south Texas. We have this critter called a Fire Ant. And when they bite, you know exactly why the word Fire is used. Fire Ants were orginally introduced in Lousiana to deal with the tick population. As time went by, the ants made it to Texas. I grew up around Dallas, Texas in the 60s & mid to late 70s and it was not unusual to come back from hunting and have several ticks feasting away. I moved just south east of Houston in 77. One thing I noticed was all the ant mounds. When I would go out hunting, never came back with any ticks. I've always had dogs and I have yet to see any ticks on them and that's been going on for 47 years. In all that time, I've actually only seen two ticks. Other than the sting cause by the ants, the second problem they cause are electrical problems. For example, if you have a well, the arcing of the contacts opening and closing during a well pumping, produces ion gases. This attracts the ants and enough of them will get into the housing to interfer with the well's operation. Working for Dow Chemical as an electrician, all the stop/start stations in the plant were oil emersed to deal with the ant problem. You are a lot braver than me.....I don't want any business with grizzly bears or a momma moose.

ha that it quite the story! Bears aren't as bad as they seem. make lots of noise and tell them who's boss. As long as you don't scare or startle them, they usually give you lots of room. Thanks for the comment!

Hello, we can do either cold or hot in this smoker. During the video, we were cold smoking the fish, and then pressure cooking/canning the fish later. We recently did some hot smoking, and moved the fire inside of the smokehouse. It turned out great! Thanks for the comment!
