This an amazing process to watch! I've had a lot of experience watching Monarch caterpillars (in the wild) going through the same thing. They're constantly eating, and when you see them stay still for so long, you think something's wrong. BUT, then you get to watch them shed their skin and go onto the next instar. NATURE is SOOO incredible! Watching a Monarch emerge from its chrysalis, after going through its last morph, is just incredible! THANK YOU for sharing this video!!!

Thanks for this. I can't seem to catch mine shedding their skin for a video.

Here in Northern Ontario, I have seen many huge Cecropia caterpillars. But, every one I've seen has been parasitized with wasp eggs. That's a death sentence for the caterpillar. I've only ever seen one Cecropia Moth!! The Luna Moth caterpillars are prone to the same demise, but I have seen 3 Luna Moths in my 30 years up here. These big moths, although native to this area, are rare up here, their larger instar larvae are a smorgasbord for these little late summer parasitic wasps!
