Cecelia has the voice, she has the look, she has the intelligence to execute the music of Mozart with perfection. She has it all. I'm sure Mozart would be proud. After hearing this performance I was overtaken with emotion to know that there are people in the world that dedicate their lives to this greatest of art forms. Brava Cecilia and Bravo Mozart! And lets not forget Maestro Harnoncourt a magnificent conductor for the ages!

Quando Mozart finisce in gole italiane Privilegiate...fiorisce oltre ogni possibile Meraviglia...e Un'orchestra dolcissima la sublima con un direttore come Harnoncourt che adora le Voci....Emozione pura. Qui siamo in un anno in cui Cecilia Bartoli è all'Apice della sua arte Canora.

I first heard Cecilia in University of California Berkeley Music Department's small recital hall in 1990 when she was a complete unknown. A true 'star is born' experience. The following year she moved to the large Zellerbach Hall on campus and it was a hot ticket to get! The best part of each concert was her 6, 7 encores. People just didn't want her to leave it was insane. I can't think of ONE opera singer today in 2020 who has that kind of cachet and charisma with the public.

Bravo ! Viva Cecilia Bartoli !

She's going right through me, such power of female voice and incredible beauty.

I have seen Cecilia performed over dozen times and always leaved the scene wiser, sober and healed.

Beautifully presented... Not just the incredible voice, but Cecilia plays the part in her presence.. Never have l enjoyed so much talent.. All kids should just listen to this and learn the talent...that can be achieved... Relaxing and comforting music...

When weary I turn on a record of this lovely lady and all is well in my world. To see a live performance has been a dream of mine since I first came upon her recordings so many years ago. Her voice is perfection.

For the combination of beauty of voice, expressiveness in communicating the text, and just the evident joy in the performing at such a level, of perfection, for me 4.03-7.57 is as good as it gets. Perhaps, the finest exhibition of concert singing I've heard.

Mozart was very gentle to feminine voice - at the time most were castrati.... BUT Cecilia makes it incredibly artistic, personal and a genius at work. She is something that will NEVER fade away (at least while KZread exists).

Cecilia, you are simply wonderfull! Your voice is perfect!

Tellement d'accord avec vous sur le Génie inégalé et de toute manière inégalable de ce cher "Trazom" comme il aimait, dans son éternel enfantillage, se nommer lui-même ! Sachez que je suis un admirateur absolu de la première heure, la musique de Mozart est la première que j'ai écouté et sera la dernière ! Depuis ma plus tendre enfance elle me galvanise, m'électrise, me bouleverse ou me rassure, elle est mon phare dans l'obscurité ! Et cela depuis plus de trente ans maintenant ! J'ai traversé des épreuves pour cela, subi de très nombreux préjugés car les conceptions de l'esprit humain sont souvent limitées, mais malgré tout jamais je ne l'ai quitté et jamais elle ne m'a déçu ! Je peux alors vous dire sans craindre quelconque critique que Mozart et moi sommes liés dans l'âme et l'esprit à jamais dans l'éternité ! Du haut de mes 5 ans, bouleversé par cet homme, je voulus faire de la danse classique, alors mon père m'a mis aux arts martiaux pour que je devienne Homme ! Merci papa ! Sans le savoir il m'a mis à la danse ! Puis je voulus devenir musicologue, mais je ne suis pas du tout adapté aux conceptions scolaires, alors j'ai fait un très mauvais cursus scolaire mais je suis finalement devenu anarchiquement musicologue ! J'ai étudié et étudié sans relâche la musique et la vie de Mozart que, vraiment aujourd'hui je connais sur le bout des doigts ! Mais pas seulement justement, et c'est là que je voulais intervenir ! Car même s'il est inégalé et inégalable sur bien des points, je vous le concède volontiers, il y a eut fort heureusement pour la musique d'autres très grands génies dans cet immense et vaste répertoire qu'est la Grande Musique ! Mozart lui-même le soulignait souvent lorsqu'il parlait de Bach ou de Haydn (qui était pour lui le génie des génies, et un peu son père musical). On ne peut pas balayer d'un simple revers les immenses Purcell, Holborne ou Dowland (puisque vous aimez la musique renaissante Anglaise), ou encore Caldara, Vivaldi, Marais, Sainte-Colombe, Boccherini, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Lizst, ou même Berlioz et Saint-Saens que vous citiez, et bien d'autres qui avaient tous un génie propre et incontestable !!! Je n'inclus pas Wagner par opinion politique même s'il ne faut pas tout mélanger :-) ! Mais bien entendu aucun n'a et aucun ne pourra jamais égaler cet extraterrestre nommé Mozart tant son talent et ses facilités semblent totalement irréels et inhumains !! Vous en connaissez d'autres des enfants de 6 ans capables de composer un concerto entier et une symphonie entière et de les jouer à la perfection, et sur plusieurs instruments !?? Ou encore quelqu'un capable de retranscrire à la note, un Miserere de 15 minutes après l'avoir simplement entendu joué une fois !??? Non il est le seul !! Comme l'a d'ailleurs dit Rossini, autre grand Génie, au cours d'un "interview", lorsqu'on lui demandait quel était pour lui le plus grand musicien et compositeur, il répondit : -" Beethoven !" -"Ah ! Et Mozart ?" demanda le journaliste -"Oh ! Mozart, lui c'est l'unique !" ... D'ailleurs il y eut un énorme malentendu entre Mozart et Beethoven, ce dernier devait devenir élève du Grand Maître, mais il partit terriblement furieux du domicile des Mozart après avoir entendu une critique sèche mais objective que Mozart donnait à l'égard du morceau que Beethoven venait de lui interpréter au piano ! Ils ne se reverront jamais, tout du moins on ne le sait pas, mais Mozart dira plus tard de Beethoven : -"Faites attention à celui-là, il fera parler de lui dans le monde !" ......... Cordialement !

Merci pour ce témoignage de votre amour pour Mozart. Comme cela manque dans ce monde moderne.. Ces mots d'amour que vous lui proclamez sont également les miens, même si je n'ai que 22 ans et que je n'ai pas encore réussi à mettre des phrases sur ce que représentes Mozart dans ma vie et dans mon moi mental, cette même partie de l'âme sur qui sa musique semble s'adresser directement, comme un cadeau. En tout cas, merci, je recherches assez secrètement depuis longtemps une personne qui se livre sur ce que lui fait Wolfgang.. c'est rare.

Cecilia carries within herself all the beauty, the accomplishments of a great Italian culture that her superbly trained voice, deep feelings and histrionic skills and temperament render true justice. I have seen Cecilia perform in over 50 performances in 9 different countries, five of which I was visiting specifically to watch her perform. I attended my first opera in 1958 (Lakme) and have only rarely taken the time to see the singers in recital. Pavarotti, Sills, Dessay, Hampson, and Bartoli. Unfortunately, her aversion to flying limits her US appearances. I say unfortunately because it is becoming quite expensive to travel to Europe (mostly Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) to see her. I'll skip lunch, if need be.

Here is some background on the first aria so masterfully sung by the great Cecilia Bartoli & accompanied so brilliantly by the great Nicklaus Harnoncourt - bravissimi to both of these great artist-interpreters of the great Mozart ! Mozart remain’d in Salzburg for the rest of 1775 after his return from Munich in March from a successful run of his opera buffa ‘La finta Giardiniera’ (The Pretended Garden Maid) - and in October / November of that year a visiting Italian Opera troupe passing through Salzburg were performing Galuppi’s Le Nozze di Dorina (Premiered in Venice in 1755, with an original Libretto by Carlo Goldoni -later adapted into Sarti’s 1786 masterpiece Fra I due Litiganti, a snippet of which was quoted in the Final Banquet Scene in Act 2 of D: Giovanni in 1787) and M. was approach’d by the soprano singing the part of the young maid ‘Dorina’ for a new aria to insert into Act 2 scene vii where Dorina has to tell Count Belfiore’s steward (‘Tritta’) that she is already engag’d to marry Masotto, the Count’s steward. Mozart’s two part aria (‘Voi avete un cor fidele’ K. 217 (= K. 246b) was completed on 26 October 1775-and represents quite an advance in musical competence & operatic nuance over La Finta Giardiniera - which Opera could be consider’d his ‘graduation into maturity as an opera composer...’ Here is a rough prose Translation of the inserted Italian poetic text to Act 2 scene vii (added possibly by the Salzburg court poet Varesco who provided Mozart with Libretti for Idomoneo in 1780/1781 & L’Oca del Cairo in 1782/3) DORINA (Le Nozze di Dorina, Act 2 scene vii) Aria (Andantino grazioso - Allegro) in G-major ‘Tho’ your heart may be as faithful as the most ardent of lovers I am, alas, already promis’d to marry another (Masotto); So now, what will you do about it now? Duel it out with him ? I mean, really, there is no other option at this point other than to remain faithful on the sidelines-and for what ? Ah, I don’t believe you would do that for a moment-for I can well foresee (tho’ you have not yet broken my heart) that it is as clear you do not give me any reason to believe that you would ever take up arms to win my love !’
