Cebu Solar Plant Launches Farm-To-Market Pilot Project | Largest Solar Plant in the Philippines

Cebu2World and CitiCore Solar Cebu signed a Memorandum of Understanding March 1, 2022 with various project stakeholders for the Farm-To-Market Pilot project in Toledo City, Cebu.
The Farm-To-Market Pilot project aims to complement the existing operations of the solar farm with crop production.
With the current layout already in place, the project will enable Talavera farmers to plant crops such as turmeric and ginger in areas in between and under the rows of solar panels. Once the produce is ready, they will then be made available to Carbon vendors through Lambo Carbon
In this partnership, CitiCore will make full use of the area by giving the local farmers of Talavera access to plant crops and other products. Then, C2W, for its part, will partner with Carbon market vendors for livelihood projects. And finally, the vendors of Carbon are assured of a continued supply of fresh produce and produced food products.
While the project aims to maximize the use of the empty plots of land within the area, the goal is to ensure that solar power product remains uninterrupted. For this reason, the crops used in the project will be those that can grow around or underneath the solar panels. It is also important to note that the crops are those that do not grow taller than the panels.
The project will have its pilot run in Citicore Solar Cebu in Toledo City. A full hectare will be set aside for the run of the pilot project.
Cebu's first solar power plant is located in a 73- hectare property in Talavera Toledo City.
The First Toledo Solar Energy Corp. (FTSEC) was constructed in October 2015 by Citicore Power Inc. (CPI) at a cost of P4 billion.
The facility, which began to dispatch power to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in June 2016, is located just 800 meters from NGCP’s Calung-Calung substation.
The 73-hectare CitiCore Cebu solar plant in Talavera,Toledo City, Cebu is currently the largest solar plant in the Philippines!
