This brought back memories of living in a small village in France, directly across from the church. The bells were charming for the first few days. 😊

I love it! I lived, backpacked Europe for seven months in '98, of which five weeks were in Italy. More than two weeks in Firenza and surroundings! I even met my grandmother's cousins in Lucca, where my great grandparents come from in the 1880's! I have eleven years to retirement and hope I can get residency through ancestry! Ciao bella ❤

what a absolutely beautiful place!!! I do think i'd rather have the 2nd level contain the kitchen/dining area/living room, and have the first level as a bedroom suite. I feel that the kitchen is lonely. I love the lower level: what a wonderful study/library/office that would be!!! And the top floor owner's suite is indeed SWEET!!! how long does it take to get to a major airport? or train line?

This may seem a foolish question, but I don't see any street lights. Are there any? How does one navigate the more remote areas (ie. away from restaurants, etc.) at night?

You mention the Chianti but then you say this is Rapolano Terme and is not Chianti zone, but the so called " Crete senesi" . Chianti is all hills, while this one is in flat land. Chianti is north of the city of Siena, Rapolano to the south, at least 50/60 km away from Chianti.

How often do those really loud church bells go off?? Are they always that loud? Do they ring 24 hrs day/night? Is that typical for the people on the street to he talking so loud? Might be a bit too noisy for most people who aren't used to it.

In small European villages bells play an important role in informing the villagers. Some locations have automatic systems that ring the bell or bells on the hour, some places use the bells to call the people to evening vesper services and to Sunday Mass in Italy. They are rung in a joyful manner after a wedding or a very slow toll announcing the death and or funeral of a villager. In some areas they even have a way of ringing the bells when there is an emergency where people need to be made aware of an urgent issue. Pretty common in European villages where Catholicism is the primary religion. Even in some Greek villages in Greece use the bells in similar ways as in Italy.

Whenever restoring/ redecoring an ancient house remember installing wooden windows /doors. PVC and metalic ones are disgusting there. The same with "modern" glass/ plastic showers boxes. Those things are as out of place as a cow in breeches dancing on a roof. And I do not understand why the kitchen is at ground level and living / more public area upstairs. Unconfortable. It´s a shame to do that to a such lovely house
