Whats the girdle you mentioned that is popular?

Thanks for the detailed comparison review! I have been wondering the real difference between pro-stock and top of the line retail pants and this was extremely helpful! You mentioned a girdle that players are really enjoying, are you referring to the retail CCM Jetspeed girdle? Are there pro-stock girdles that are different like the pants are? I am a newer player with a lingering hip injury and looking to upgrade my pants to something with the best hip protection I can find. The pro-stock pants look like they could be the best but I am curious your thoughts on girdle protection. Also being a skinnier player (5'11", 160lbs) I do worry about pant pads sliding/shifting during contact and falls - I hear girdles are better at staying closer to your body. Thanks in advance for any reply!

So, the newer girdle players are wearing is the Jetspeed and Tacks girdle. I have seen a lot more players in the "Tacks" one than the newer Jetspeed model so I am not exactly sure what the pro stock one is made of and if it is better than the retail one. Hopefully I can find one and take a look at it in the future though. Previously, there was a RBK 9K girdle that is used in the NHL today and was one of the most used pants/girdles for a while. I have one and did a video of it previously comparing it o the new Jetspeed girdle. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fHiey6mQfcrbZaQ.html The most protective pants are simply the CCM X variants. The HP45X I have are SOOO thick and padded. I wouldn't worry about the pants shifting as they wrap around a lot and do their best to fill the protection gaps. You could also probably find a medium (or maybe even a small) with + length sizing to get a tighter fit.

It would be great to get your take on stock vs pro goalie pants. I’ve been trying to find a good pant chest protector integration.

Goalie pants are a bit hard to do, since with Vaughn and Brian's their pro stock pants are very specific for the goalie they are made for. So you are never quite sure what you are getting when you get them or you are looking for them. For CCM, their pro stock goalie pants are fantastic and so far ahead of what CCM offers for retail, kind of like their player pants. I bought McKenney pants in the summer and will be reviewing those soon once I get some games in through this winter season, but so far I will be looking to replace them with a pro stock pant.

Great review. What's the difference between CCM 35,45, and 70 pro stock models? Thanks.

So, I don't have HP35, but from what I can tell on those is that they are a more "traditional" HP45. So instead of the red liner and the UFoam for the back padding it is traditional nylons. HP70 is a REALLY old pant build from the RBK days of things (maybe even earlier). I wouldn't suggest people grabbing those unless they like heavier, loose fitting, and boxier pants. HP45 feel like the evolution of the HPUCLP I have here, just slightly different materials and slightly heavier for more protection. Basically the newest Jetspeed pro stock pant.

After trying HP45 pants I will never buy retail again. I own 2 of pairs and they’re size, protection, weight and mobility are better then any retail pant. ( I tried on all in the stores) also I agree I hate velcro too.

I haven't really touched any besides a pair of Bauer One95 and a pair of Warrior Franchises. Which were both pretty heavy and beefy.

@@HockeyReviews cheers. I'm playing out a bit but have taken some hard spills, so wouldn't mind getting something really protective. I like doing research before shopping because I always feel bad to take up time trying things on. My current player pants are a older, durable CCM Tacks 692, which I like, but would enjoy an upgrade. I have goalie pants and pads that are pro stock, and feel I get a good or best bang for my buck that way. Thanks for the info!

If that is what you are looking for. You can't go wrong with the CCM HPUCLP and HP45. Both are solid. You can look for HP45X if you want the beefiest things possible but they are pretty overkill

For those without PS gear, I much prefer these to my basic Warrior LX 30 pants, the tapered fit for me feels more mobile/comfortable in all skating scenarios and the velco works for me so far. I did notice that I am bit cooler and dryer in them after a heavy-duty skating session. I have gone down a few times on my ass felt I had much more protection than my old pants. Overall I think these have more of a girdle feel from being tapered so you will either love these or hate this fit. As a beer league player on the ice twice a week, I don't feel under protected with these ... so far :)

This is exactly my point of 23:30, obviously these $260 pants are better than the low end $150 pants you had before. The problem is, the pro stock versions are a better product than what is offered at retail for considerably lower cost. Even if these UCLP cost the same as the $260 pant, majority of people would chose the UCLP over the FT6 Pro since you don't really sacrifice anything.

Where can we buy Pro stock instead of retail? Because I just purchased the FT6 Pro, always looking for top of the line protection in the equipment that I wear. However! I have to admit that I don't feel I am getting much better protection for the difference of price I pay compared to the inferior models at lower prices. My opinion is that (without targeting a particular brand), the companies seem to improve the product more so on the breathable materials used on the more expensive ones, rather than protective material where I believe the emphasis should be on!! If I'm paying MORE, I want MORE protection!! My constructive comment to CCM, is that the FT6 Pro are definitely lacking protection in the groin area along the jock, the rear of the leg, and the belly protection needs upgrading. The 1'' extension feature for added length is genius, thank you for that! I do like the Velcro feature in the front, being one of the reasons why I chose these over their competitors... the laces being a little annoying, and tend to loosen at times. So I'm giving the Velcro model a crack at it. Thank you for reviewing equipment in detail and sharing your experience with different hockey gear, it is much appreciated. @@HockeyReviews

To add to this, the HP45X is the beefed version of the HP45 and has thicker padding and more plastic in it. Absolute tanks of pants.

I haven't seen the Tackla so can't say. But generally speaking I always recommend going the pro stock route for pants (but not the HPTK pants since those are just retail pants in pro shells).
