CBUT Sign-On (1989)

Recovered from another account, here is the full sign-on for CBC British Columbia (CBUT) from 1989, although the graphics suggest this was first used around 1985 or 1986.

Wow... I remember waking up to this as a kid in 1987. I used to be so fascinated by all the towns flying to their places on the map... I still remember "Bella Coola, Bella Bella...... Elsa Keno Mayo Faro...." I never thought I'd see this again. It totally brings me back to the Expo years!

The mere mention of Cassiar makes this video worth posting as a piece of history. Where Iive in BC, we had a CBC affiliate station for many years, so it's only recently that CBUT was available on cable in my community. Our former CBC affiliate station switched affiliations to another network.

Had to look up Cassiar and find out what happened here. Sad the way these towns only happen because a job happen to be in place.

Expo Centre opened in May 1985, so it was likely produced shortly after that. The graphics seem older though......

This sign on goes perfect with toasted chocolate chip waffles in cinnamon and syrup. (The cinnamon and syrup mixed always remind me of all the "rugged terrain" these areas must have)

The female announcer's voice sounds so familiar! Is she the same woman that did the Knowledge Network sign-off/on message?

You may be thinking of the one that is referenced as a related video - it is from January 1998 and beautiful.

It's probably from a music library LP or CD of the era.
