CBR400RR Carb Balancing with The Digi Sync Carb Sync Tool

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I have been given a digital carb sync tool called The Digi Sync to test, which you can see me using on my Honda CBR400RR. Find out what I think of it.

    I've seen all the other Digi Sync vids, and this is by far the best, and the only one showing how to connect it to the carbs. Thanks!

    A great video! That is a good looking piece of kit. I honestly have never thought about syncing the throttle bodies. Makes perfect sense when thought about. With a multi vehicle stable, is various restore stages, I know exactly what you mean by things getting away from you. Thank you for the enjoyable video.

    When first removing the carbs, even before the plugs comment, I would temporarily plug the intake holes with a paper towel so as to not drop anything down the hole while lifting out anything above it. The Digi Sync is much nicer than the manometer I have used in the past. (Inches of mercury dial gauge). I also have seen liquid gauge manometers used in testing plumbing for leakage by housing inspectors. I assume it could also be used for that too.

    Nice video again Dana! One remark, before synchronising the carbs it is best to first check the valve clearances and adjust if necessary. In the old days (yes....I know...) we first checked the valve clearance, then the ignition timing and last the synchronising. But on newer bikes without contact breakers/points the ignition timing doesn't need to be checked. Anyway, thanks again for your video and I'm looking forward to the next!!! Always take care and drive safely!!

    Modern motorcycle engines, even old ones like mine, use shims as they are overhead cams and do not have adjustable lifters.

  • @janvandijk2961

    @janvandijk2961

    That is correct. But even with overhead cams you should check the clearances and if necessary change the shims.@@bikerstuff2

    Looks easy to use the digital system. I’ll stick to my analog gauges, they still work well and they will probably see me out. Bit of a pain to balance your carbies having to remove then put them back.

    Interesting piece of kit. In my day you put a piece of pipe in your ear with the other end in the carb mouth and adjusted until the noise was the same. Only 2 carbs though. I wonder to it reads the engine RPM? Is it powered by the OBD Port?

  • @bikerstuff2

    @bikerstuff2

    8 ай бұрын

    It is powered with an internal 9v battery. I've never owned a twin, they don't have the sweet tone of a V or straight 4 cylinder

  • @AndrexT

    @AndrexT

    @@bikerstuff2 So any idea how it knows the RPM? My most melodic bike was my Kawasaki H1 - 500 / 3. I did drive a Kawasaki Z1300 - 6 for a week, it had a strange issue and belonged to a local priest. It over heated and stalled. Turned out the fuel pipe was so close to the cylinders if vas vapor locking as starving the carbs. I put on a new supply tube, re-routed it and insulated it.

    I think you're asking if it will work on dual carb engines. Yes, from 2 to 6 cylinders. They come in 2, 4 and 6 channel versions. If you never plan on having a bigger engine, then you can save by buying the 2 channel version, but I would recommend getting the 4 channel so it is then future proof.
