Thank you sooo much for the tour. As a veteran myself, I feel a lot of compassion for those who suffered and died on this and other battlefields.

Years ago, I visited the battlefield with a friend. When we were at the Triangular Field, her camera rewound the remaining film all by itself. She had only taken 4 photos. That scared the daylights out of me. But...Gettysburg is a beautiful, horrible, and sacred place...horrible for the number of lost lives. Thanks for this video. RS

I visited Gettysburg when I lived in McLean VA on a school field trip! It was wonderful!!! I still have a Confederate bullet I bought at the gift shop! I'm 63 now and I still remember the wonderful history of it! Thank you!!!

Also; the reason there's so many unknown burials at the national cemetery stems from the fact that these soldiers were originally buried where they fell. Many were placed in mass graves. They where later disinterred and reburied here. By then it was impossible to identify each individual.

My dad is a battlefield guide there!

Lover of Gettysburg here! Recently stayed there for 15th wedding anniversary. Rode bikes to Sach's bridge! Great video...never knew about that cave! Picketts charge (a.k.a. Highwater Mark" was my favorite stop.

When you started to walk the field, seeing the black clouds overhead looked like smoke from the cannons in the battle. So erie !!!!

Fun Vid WW. Makes me want to get back to Gettysburg again. Haven't been there in may be 12 years. Did lots of paranormal investigation there, the Jenny Wade house, the Farnsworth building and the orphanage and others. I captured lots of stuff including bagpipes playing Amazing Grace and a bugle playing taps. These sounds were recorded about 9:30 pm on the Wheatfield. I also smell gun powder and rotting flesh also on the Wheatfield. It was a hot and humid July night about 89 degrees and felt a very cold spot just before the smells came. I only smelled them for a few seconds each. It was also the location of another 17 bodies discovered we found out about two months later through a ranger. He said it would take several years of paper work to arrange them to be buried in the National Cemetery. A beautiful place for such a horrid battle to have taken place. Before Gburg there was an Indian war in this area I was told by one of the Rangers. Thanks Kindly! Hike On! DaveyJO

When I went there I thought the place was kind of creepy in a way . Like a sad , foreboding feeling . Just imagine the guts it took for the men on both sides to line up and march towards each other . I've been there at night aswell . Creepy .

I stayed at the local hotel just off the Park grounds by the train tracks. I was tempted to get out the old metal detector and see what I can find

What a view, looks fun. As older folks we appreciate it much more. History.

So did I. I seem to recall climbing to the top of some large metal watch tower but at the time I was not a history buff like I am now. I was actually pretty bored there as a kid. I definitely wouldn't mind going back sometime, preferably in the fall when it's not 80-90* and humid though.

I live in Gettysburg and had no idea that you could climb to the top of the monument.

I am in Arizona this travel looks amazing. I use an oxygen machine and could never walk that much now.

When my mother and I visited in the mid '60's it seemed to me there were more trees! The whole place looks different from my memory of Gettysburg.

My mom, her boyfriend and I went to Gettysburg back in 2011, we were by one of the confederate cannons, mom was trying to take a picture of us when she said that there were soldiers in the picture, I was trying to look at the picture and I didn't see anything and to this day my mom could've sworn she saw some soldiers there and that I've accidently deleted it, though I still don't remember even deleting anything?

You are walking on hallowed ground. I will be there on july 1,2,3 for the anniversary.

Unless I am very mistaken, the Pa. monument was essentially closed for quite a long time, and for many years you were not allowed to go inside, as the monument had deteriorated to a point to be considered unsafe..good reason to visit, so I can enjoy the view I missed in elementary school!

Very interesting.

I was a tourist going there for years, finally moved there and it just wasn't the same. Lived there for ten years. Moved out in 2011, it's a shame but a beautiful place to visit but didn't want to live there. Sometimes life is strange huh?

What reasons made you not want to live there? I am assuming you living there is fun at first but wears off after seeing everything touring the battlefields seeing the museums and exhibits you've seen it all the excitement wears off you take it for granted perhaps that's what drove you out. Also being a tourist you only go certain times of the year you don't get to see what it's like to live there year round the winters can be brutal I guess you really got to do a lot of research before moving there in the first place.

I guess many of the unknowns uniforms were intact so they knew what group they were in. They could also tell some information by where they fell. That's why they were "dog tags" now. This in reference to the cemetary in the last part of the video.

At 4:12 you say we are hanging in the shad because it is hot out. Think how they were dressed and fighting battles back then.

Does anyone else ever wonder how many ancient people been in the same cave in the same footsteps. Like the Indians or people thousands of years ago. Should've checked for petroglyphs

I was there at the cemetery area when I went to Gettysburg a few years ago we drove there for the day after we landed in Washington DC Then went back to Washington DC to our Hotel. I would Actually love to live in Gettysburg I'd go to the battle fields every day ghost hunting I"d play some Dixie.

No kilt wearers? Reason I asked, I was there in 2020. For whatever reason there were 3 seemingly unrelated men wearing kilts. 1 in plaid, and the other 2 were in plain black kilts. No idea if there was any reason or rhyme to this. I hurt my leg right before I left so I parked in a handicapped space using a expired handicap sign. Had to walk with a cane a bit.

I've done the Pa monument but I will not do the towers.

The whole group is there.

Such a beautiful place to have seen so much death.

Imagine the families going to their graves wondering.
