Cave of The Seven Sleepers (Ashab al-Kahf) - Tarsus, Turkey
Disclaimers:
1. The amount of youth being seven has been reported by Imam Tabari who mentions that Ibn Abbas mentions the number being seven and the eighth being the dog with them. This is mentioned in Tarikh al-Umam wal-Muluk (Tarikh at-Tabari) by Ibn Jarir at Tabari. Page number is 211. Link for PDF is here: ia800207.us.archive.org/31/it.... Seven is also mentioned in Tafsir Jalalayn,
2. The location is debated. It seems that people around the world tried to localise this historical and significant place based on statements from Companions of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and historical narratives written by other historians. The video shows just one POSSIBLE location of where this cave may be. The one in Jordan is also a possibility. Shafiq Norton, an award-winning South African journalist also alludes to this in his blog, for which the link is: shorturl.at/cqrD7.
In Tafsir Jalalayn, it is mentioned in the commentary that a possible location for this cave is in Tarsus. To make it more specific, it is also mentioned in Tafsir Jalalayn that Tarsus is a place between Mersin and Adana in Turkey. You can see this by clicking here (page 295): ia800509.us.archive.org/30/it...
We noticed the sign for this place on our way from Mersin to Adana and immediately decided to do a U Turn and take the exit

This was simply a place I came across on my journey around the Southeast region of Turkey. Some say the cave is in Jordan and some say in Turkey. The truth is, NO ONE actually knows the true location. This video basically showcases what I came across. The place was signposted along the highway as Esheb el-Kehf and after checking Tafsir Jalalayn, I found that it is mentioned in the commentary that a possible location for this cave is in Tarsus (which is the location in the video). To make it more specific, it is also mentioned in Tafsir Jalalayn that Tarsus is a place between Mersin and Adana in Turkey. @@JuberAhmedTravel well only Allah knows best. My understanding however from history and several ulama descriptions I believe it is this cave not Jordon. It must be one of the two amongst these, for the simple reason, Ashabe Khaf from their names were Greeks and they were most probably located in Turkey (jordon also possible). The names and everything else matches the Turkish cave. One important feature is that the cave is small at the entrance but bigger inside, this description fits best at the Turkish cave rather than the Jordanian one

I am from the city of Adana and living abroad. We always went there since my childhood with my parents. We picnicked there under the trees in summer an my family slept there once. Last time for me was in 2019. It is beautiful and tranquil. Tarsus is a very beautiful city, much more than Adana. I recently discovered that prophet Danyal is also buried in Tarsus. I went there last year and was very impressed. I would advice you to also go there and to the old mosques there. 2 years ago I went to the tree of Mozes in Hatay(old Antioch). That was also very special and also tranquil and beautiful. The journey of Mozes with Hidir is also written in Sura Kehf and I think that this place is for real after some things I experienced there. I would also advice you to visit the city of Hatay and its museum and beautiful region.

@@aramishelahi8425 Dear Brother. On November 2019 I watched the You Tube video of one of our archeologist Talha Uğurluel( he also has English subtitles). He told about Danyal peygamber. On 586 BC the king of Babil send prophet Danyal to Tarsus. During the time of Khalif Omar the Mosque where he lies under was build in Tarsus. His followers found a tomb there and they opened it. They found a ring and brought it to Halif Omar. After seeing the ring with pictures of a man and to Lions he said that this must be the tomb of prophet Danyal and told them to burry him and keep quiet as not disturb the tomb. After this the tomb was forgotten. The mufti of Adana told the story of the mufti of this Mosque. The mufti wanted to build new toilets in the mosque This happened. After finishing the toilets he saw prophet Danyal in his dream and he was not pleased that all the excretes where disturbing his tomb. They started an excavation and found the tomb. Now it is lying there. It has been turned to a museum and is also a mosque. You can believe or not.

Very nice place and overview! Its interesting that in Bosnia we have old local narration aswell about Ashab al-Kahf. Near todays old fortress of small Bosnian city - Glamoč, 60km north from ancient city Salona (capital of Roman province of Dalmatia), there are stone inscripted names of seven sleepers (Jemlih, Mislin, Miksilin, Mernosh, Debernosh, Shadnosh, Kefeshtatiosh). According to narration, sleepers found shelter there in 3th century from persecution of cruel Roman emperor Diocletian. Near that cave, there are also ruin remainings of old mosque that was possibly built by sultan Mehmed II Conqueror or later in 16th century. Also, as Bosniak, i would like to share some interesting history overview of monotheism continuity in Bosnia from Arius to Ottomans. Monotheism has deep continuity there from (early unit(arian) christianity, medieval heresy and Islam). Arius and his followers were deposed and exiled into Illyricum on June 19, 325 as aftermath of Nicene Creed. (center of Illyricum is present mountainous Bosnia) Later on, his belief was supported by Illyrian Arian bishops of late 4th c. (Palladius and Secundianus), contemporaries of Wulfilla - Gothic Arian bishop. Ostrogothic kingdom rooted Gothic christianity all over present Bosnian territory, and left over Arian basilica ruins. Official heretical Bosnian church in medieval period fused Arianism, eastern Manicheanism, Dualism, Paulicianism and western Catharism, Patarenism as opposition to Vatican and Constantinopole. At the end, complex interior political clash of Bosnian kingdom nobility, religious similarities, non forced conversion and ottoman sympathies resulted conquest of Bosnia without conflict. Selam, and Ramadan mubarek !

@@JuberAhmedTravel Unfortunately there aren't many related scientific sources available. That legend is barely known and kept even here in Bosnia, mostly because of constant turbulence and migrations. Not quite sure if Glamoč city would be interesting for tourists, because i doubt they reconstructed destroyed buildings from 1992 war, including old mosque yet. But yeah, there are hundreds of other interesting places in Bosnia to take into consideration. JazakAllah Khair and welcome to Bosnia :)
