Gnocchi traditionally has potato in the dough, cavatelli does not.

Will this type of machine work with gnocchi as well?

Yes it works well with gnocchi

Yes and no. If you like soft gnocchi (more potato than flour) it will not work. If you make hard ones (more flour than potato) then yes, but you will have to experiment with the proportions.
