The “Pink Stuff Cleaning Paste” works great to remove hard water stains as well!

Fantastic review. Very informative. I invested in this fountain today for my 5 month old kitten. He drinks a lot of water, which is great as my previous cats growing up rarely did. He refuses to drink out of a bowl at all now and searches for a dripping tap.

Absolutely fantastic review. Pros and cons of plastic and stainless steel. Thank you. I will deffo be looking into getting the stainless steel one after looking at this video. Only thing I worry about is my cats may try to chew the wire. Maybe I could fit the wire to the wall? Thank you. I give them meet once a week. I mainly use dry to help keep their teeth good and less dental problems. Indoor cats. So this fountain would be fantastic. Also one of our cats plays with the water making it dirty quicker so again the fountain be good. I love watching our boy splash the water around it’s so funny. But I worry he’s then drinking dirty water. If he could drink and play with fountain least it’s clean water.

I just want to tell people I had the type of fountain with the flower type waterfall nozzle but he kept nudging the elevated part with his nose when he was drinking and the lid kept knocking away from the pump and eventually the pump broke. He is old and was laying down to drink. I'd like to see a video for best fountain for senior cats.

i just picked one up today. my cat got her claws stuck a few times in the holes in the metal bowl.

I have three cats and one drinks exclusively from the faucet. I put ice cubes in their bowl and seems to help keep them interested. Does this have a timer on it, or do you leave it on all the time?

Your cats might really enjoy drinking from the flower attachment. I think it's best to leave it running all the time, so the water is constantly being filtered.

How long is the cord? I also have a problem with my cat playing in the water bowl. I am considering a fountain thinking that may help . Thoughts on that?

The cord is about 5' long. The fountain may not change the play behavior. Why don't you want your cat to play with the water?

How do you run this in the dishwasher? I'm having trouble removing the plastic thing inside of the “cup”

Luana, I've been able to remove the plastic bit by pressing the sides in, but it's not easy. I've been running it on the top rack with the plastic part in place and it's worked just fine.

The "kibble helps to clean cats' teeth" advice is a myth, but don't feel bad - it's a surprisingly prevalent myth. I've even heard veterinary professionals parroting it. If you consider how many carbs are in kibble, a good comparison would be eating Cap'n Crunch cereal. Does that make your teeth feel clean? No, it sticks in all the crevices. That's what kibble does - at least the pieces that get chewed. There have been some "dental formula" cat foods, but even those have limited effect because cats mostly swallow small kibble pieces whole.

Yes, even I'd have difficulty tipping it over when it's filled with water. I'm not saying it's impossible - where there's a cat will, there's a cat way - but it wouldn't tip over easily.

I see this was made 9 months ago, how is the noise situation of the motor atm? I’m looking for a nice fountain for my cat, but we live in a relatively small appartment (480 sq/ft) so looking for a model that is soundless to not have a constant buzzing noise in the appartment.

It still sounds the same as new, but it isn't silent. There is some hum. The most noise comes from the water dripping when the fountain needs filling, but that sound is actually helpful. You can help keep the pump quiet by taking it apart (just pulling the end off and removing the impeller) and cleaning it thoroughly when you clean the fountain.

Can we have an update to see how its holding up?

Sure, Carisa. I'm still very pleased with the fountain. I haven't had any issues with it at all. It's just like new except for some hard water stains on the bowl that the dishwasher hasn't removed. I'm going to try some vinegar with a wad of aluminum foil to remove them before I wash it again.

Where do you put the water? In the white bowl with the motor?

Yes, the water is in the bottom. You can see the water level in the little window on the side.

I have 4 cats and 3 of them have teeth problems, 2 of them got almost all their teeth extracted and the other one needs the extraction of her molars because it was painful for them, when ask the vet how could we do to avoid the situation she said cat only should eat wet food every other day, dry food is preferable over wet food as dry food clean cats teeth

I'm sorry your pets have had dental issues. Most cats will have dental issues if they do not get regular dental cleanings. Some are more prone to dental problems than others. However, there is zero evidence that kibble cleans teeth. Do your teeth feel cleaner after you eat Cap'n Crunch dry cereal? No. In fact, many cats swallow kibble whole. Unfortunately, pet food manufacturers often promote this fallacy and lots of people, including some pet care pros, believe it. But you don't have to take my word for it. Do a Google search. That may be a good question for Catit. Mine didn't have any stickers on it.

I could'nt find steel top water fountains in my country, they're all plastic, but she only drinks water from the tap other wise, and doesnt drink from the bowl, she plays with it and flips it over. So i dont know what to do, i dont want her risk getting bacteria, but cant have her not drinking water because she has to wait for me to open the tap for her.

Lia, I think it's better for a cat to have water and risk the bacteria than for her to be without enough water. You could always replace a plastic fountain later, which is what I ended up doing.

Is this okay for very small dogs?

It should be fine for a small dog. You just might need to monitor the water level more closely since dogs often drink a lot more than cats.

how often do you change the filter

I clean it and replace the water once a week and only change the filter when it seems dirty. Otherwise I just rinse it out. That usually means changing it every few months as opposed to every month as recommended by Catit. That works as long as you replace the water frequently.
